Re: Joe Pasquales Yak?

It was based at Enstone when my ex-boss owned it, but he sold it a year or so ago and bought an Extra. According to G-INFO the Yak is now in Russia.

Re: Joe Pasquales Yak?

An old boss of mine bought it in around 2008. ISTR him saying that Joe Pasquale had a 50% share in it rather than owning it outright.

Lovely, just lovely. You can't beat a summer's evening bimble. I just hope you didn't have to land into that sun when you arrived home!

There's some beauties in there Trevor. Love the Evergreen and Kalitta (I have a soft spot for freighters).

I'm still stunned by the quality of these - they look as though they could have been shot yesterday with modern digital gear. And the subject matter is just fantastic - just look at that Sycamore

Apologies for the short downtime a little earlier - I was doing some maintenance and tidying which took a little longer than planned.

I believe Tony is correct. I also heard that equipment upgrades (i.e. larger aircraft on existing schedules) were banned for the same reasons.

I wish "we" as a collective term for aviation enthusiasts could drop the word "dirty" that comes before "civvys" (sic). I like to photograph airliners, and I just don't get it. Absolutely agreed. It's not a general aviation enthusiast term either - I've only seen it me...

Re: Cambridge Airport Emergency Landing

My guess is that this kind of situation would have been planned for. The important factors for a non-urgent in flight emergency may well be to exit the prohibited and restricted zones as quickly as possible (to avoid security concerns and possible interception) and land somewhere suitable. If near S...

Re: Frankfurt Hahn 22.07.2012

It was the easiest way to raise the nose when the aircraft is on the ground, so that the floor is level to aid cargo loading/unloading (passenger A330s are distinctly nose-down when on the ground). A longer nose gear leg would have meant an expensive redesign of the lower nose area to accommodate it...

New server and associated board outage

Thanks to all your kind donations, we have been able to buy a new server from a reputable host. I've already moved many of the sites hosted on the old server to it and all is going well. Therefore I plan on moving the UKAR board this weekend. Because of the fragile nature of the old server, quantity...

I'm surprised there's no interest - seems like a very good deal to me. Looking at eBay, the body alone is worth £350-£400, so £500 including the two lenses is a bargain and a perfect intro to DSLR photography.

Shame if they did, but then again the footpaths etc around Tower Bridge are public (or at least not owned by the film company), so I don't think they could.

Helicopter under Tower Bridge today

It may need quite a lot of waiting around, but there's a helicopter due to fly under Tower Bridge this evening (Sat 09/06/12). Details here: http://forums.flyer.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=77374. Should make a good shot!

There were collisions, and many more airprox incidents, that drove the research into making all the military fleet as conspicuous as possible (high intensity strobes being the other major outcome). The number of airprox incidents continues to be a concern, now driving the rollout of collision avoida...
