Re: Albrighton Cricket & Tennis Club - CLOSED 2016
On show day David Austin normally operate something like a £30 deposit when you park which is then credited against your bill at the till to stop their car park being full of spectators rather than shoppers.

Was the Preston based one on its way to Duxford at a guess, found out after the event but it called for fuel at Halfpenny Green enroute early am Saturday morning.

Re: A poll - will CAA changes effect your habits?
Until yesterday I was convinced the new rules wouldn't put me off, after yesterday at Shuttleworth I think other pursuits I'm interested in may now take preference over aviation. I won't ditch shows completely but yesterday was a real blow, as something very special in so many ways, Shuttleworth yes...

DH Pair
Visiting Halfpenny Green today were the gorgeous DH90 Dragonfly and an equally lovely DHC1 both from Biggin Hill. The very friendly owners kindly flew past as a pair before setting course for home. (Mods if you feel this should be in GA please move but I think the Chipmunks have been included in thi...

*But apparently it wouldn't matter anyway because only aircraft with afterburners matter... [/quote] Peter, I don't think you should be surprised or disheartened by this perception. Will she be permanently based at Halfpenny do you know? Unfortunately not, although it does visit as its owner has connections locally, generally it lives between Duxford and Goodwood with the occasional overnight at Halfpenny Green. Goodwood is the main base as its busy during the summer helping e...

Re: Mustang display at Halfpenny Green
Thanks guys. Interesting I had no idea there is a Mustang based there now. I only live about 4 miles from there and have never seen it. I have to say I don't think it was that machine it was not in RAF markings and did not land just left the area. Lee, you haven't missed out on a locally based Must...

Harrier GR3 XV808 Taxy Event
I was with the owner of this Harrier yesterday and the current plan is for an event on Easter Sunday / Monday where the Harrier will be taxied up and down the grass strip. It will be a sort of fete / tractors / wheels event with an aviation element of model aircraft flying and the Harrier taxy. Full...

Re: Mach Loop under fire
I bet for people who have lived in the area for 20 years plus, the noise and disturbance is probably a tenth of what it used to be. And I know its over their homes and not mine, (wished it was over mine) but the people complaining shouldn't forget, that it is thanks to this training, the preparation...

Re: RIAT on a bike
Used to do this when bikes were allowed on the showground, last time we did it they weren't, we hadn't got bike locks so back to the car load the bikes up and rejoin the traffic queues. We used to drop a farmer a bottle of scotch in one of the local villages and the car stayed parked in his barn out...

The restricted airspace notices are only in place for the afternoons, 2pm to 6pm local on Friday and Saturday so perhaps primarily arrivals am each day.

Not sure but I don't think the SF260 was Tonys, it was formerly based at Oaksey Park and has been at Halfpenny Green for a few months now. Its been a regular visitor to Halfpenny Green as the owner used to live locally. The YAK is hiding in the back of the microlight hangar but you do need one of th...

Re: Dawlish Air Show 2015
There is a car park in a field adjacent to the Smugglers and the site where the helicopters operate from on the day of the Show. Never used it, so I don't know the cost. I tend to park (considerately) in the housing estate a short walk from the hill. The car park is quite small and fills up quickly...

Re: Classic Air Force Vintage Air Display - Coventry 2 May 2
I'm afraid looking at photographers sun position calculators such as Photographers Ephemeris, it would appear that on 2nd May at 11.30 you are looking right at the sun, and it doesn't even come around to parallel with the runway until 15.30. If I can make it, it won't stop me going in and supporting...

Basically the Close Air Support exercise will take place for upto an hour and a half tonight, 3rd March between 7pm and half 8pm and possibly for an hour and a half tomorrow 4th March between 8pm and half 9pm. Any aircraft taking part can operate from sea level up to 9000ft. The exercise will take p...

Re: East Anglian Air Ambulance EC145
I believe the Ec145 is the same design as the BK117 but developed. After the formation of Eurocopter through the joint company (MBB / Aerospatiale) the brand name EC145 was used for any further development of the BK117, of course it will now be an Airbus Helicopters EC145.
