Re: RIAT 2015

How accurate is this likely to be? I'm not familiar with Scramble and its reliability or otherwise. If it does turn out to be true, 4 for the static would be an unusually large number - 2 for static, 1 flying and 1 backup would seem more likely wouldn't it? But really we should until we've word eit...

Just seen this on Scramble. Don't know how accurate it is but looks like a Second batch of A-10s in July into Europe and also the Indians we've heard rumoured. Re: RIAT 2015

My rough, thoroughly unscientific count from recent years is, on average, 30-31 flying display slots. Obviously the Battle of Britain commemorations might take up an extra slot, but I don't think we'd be unprecedented in expecting a few more flying displays to be announced. For variety's sake, some...

Re: RIAT 2015

Are you saying that the problem is that people stand in the middle or that people are being forced to move to the ends? If it's the latter, I stand corrected. The latter....people who are not paying a premium to use one of the enclosures/grandstands are being forced further away from the centreline...

Re: RIAT 2015

Yes , I chose to lurk towards the end of the crowdline. The problem is that many spectators don't , but are increasingly being forced to do so because of the number of grandstands/enclosures taking over the central section of the crowdline. It's not a "problem" when people stand in the mi...

Re: RIAT 2015

Nice update this week. A rough count up of flying displays I make it 24 acts, if the BOB do their separate display. Not including any other fly pasts I don't know about. Yep, agree with that, very roughly 4.75-5 hours worth- so some room to go! Oh good, so there's still plenty of time for more. I t...

Re: RIAT 2015

Re the showreel, that music comes in several different versions. This is the extreme electrical noise version, they mild electrical noise and full orchestra ones have actually been used in Red Arrows: Inside the Bubble and Cold War, Hot Jets, among others. I bet if they used either of them, complain...

Re: RIAT 2015

so more consideration should be given to extending the display area in the routines But it's their routine. If you deem the act to be too centrally-orientated, it's an issue you'd have to raise with them. I'm sure they'd love to hear from you... The venue can't go about asking them to change it for...

Re: RIAT 2015

Not a slow week as I predicted. But not so exciting for me. All of those flying additions have been available online for some time on unofficially official sources like the team's Facebook pages. Nice that we're getting the AHDT 2-ship though, that'll be a highlight of the show if last year was any...

Perhaps Kim Jong Un will join in and single-handedly fly his personal "North Korean-built" transport aircraft non-stop over to the show. I've always wanted to see a Cessna 150.

Adam There are currently 12 A-10's from the 355th Fighter Wing, Davis Monthan on deployment in Europe operating under a Theater Security Package. If you recall, 4 frames spent a week at Lakenheath recently. I believe they are in Romania at this present time on an exercise with the host nation and t...

On an internet! I always knew that day would come Wait, what was my good point, actually? I'm seriously not expe...

But Adam, this is illogical - you should join the RIAT Nutters or whatever Made me smile, that! Does anyone know if there are currently A-10s based in Europe? Apparently a USAF A-10 will appear at Tours on static - I didn't think there were any in this part of the world, but if there are based over...

Re: RIAT 2015

The USAF are sending static aircraft to the Armée de l'Air's show at Tours. So they are sending aircraft to European airshows this year, even if they aren't supported by the US DoD. Potentially good news for RIAT, I would think. By the way, if this is a bit tenuous, which it may well be, I don't nee...

Re: RIAT 2015

What I want to see is a couple of gems in the static park, some bulk -F16s, Hercs, etc, and maybe one more really decent addition to the flying. With no RSV, what other really decent (and realistic) additions to the flying can we still get? Something from New Zealand perhaps, or maybe that Austrian...

They did last year on the Friday with the leaders of the other display teams. I'd forgotten about that. Re: RIAT 2015

Would I be right in saying Saturday is usually better as some of the aircraft depart before Sunday? . Indeed, there is generally no day 'better' than the other - that is usually something seen at places like Duxford which often boasts rather different flying lineups on the two days. Whilst some act...

No, but I think it'll be much less frequent now RIAT's a three day event. Take the warbird formation this year, I wouldn't be surprised if at least one plane leaves before the end.
