RAF Cosford Jaguar Evening and Night Shoot

In October I attended the first of the TimelineEvents shoots at RAF Cosford shooting the 238 Sqn Jaguars. We were blessed with a fantastic sunset which I wish I'd had the filters to make the best use of. The lights and smoke machine that we concluded the shoot with was a great addition. 1. https://c...

RAF Jaguars Final Roar

It's taken me a while to get around to finishing these. On 31 Aug 16, the Jaguar ran for the final time in RAF service at an event dedicated to the the types retirement, hosted by 238 Sqn at RAF Cosford. The Jags will continue on in service but only as ground instructional airframes, with 'liney' tr...

Re: Victory Show 2016

According to a post on the Facebook group, there had been some serviceability issues with the German armour. The 2 Stugs that normally attend are both out of action, with one loosing a drive wheel only a couple of weeks ago. The PzIII has been out of action all year. They were doing some filming for...

Re: The Victory Show 2016 (Cosby)

Why were the display lines different in 2012? They had to avoid the car parks that are at the northern end of the strip. For the last few years they made these car parks 'sterile' during the flying display and that issue went away. Now because of the CAA regs the display line has to avoid Cosby vil...

Re: The Victory Show 2016 (Cosby)

Is the car park on the other side of the road sterile as it sounds as if that is the place to watch which completely counters what the CAA are trying to acheive I don't know on that one. I noticed the car parks down the other end of the airfield were open when the aircraft were landing over them. T...

Re: The Victory Show 2016 (Cosby)

All acts are displaying at 45 degrees along the road like in 2012. I'm half way down the strip with a 500mm and can't get anything except takeoff and landings.

Re: The Victory Show 2016 (Cosby)

No air display so far. Very few acts have arrived...however, rain is easing off, wind is ok and they may try after the battle. They're 'playing it by ear'.

Re: The Victory Show 2016 (Cosby)

OK first bit of negative news today and I hope the last of it. No Dakota in the flying display, I was given duff gen yesterday, and the army cadets have just erected a bloody climbing wall in the middle of the crowd line left of the vip tent...the part I was told would be kept clear this year :wall:

Re: The Victory Show 2016 (Cosby)

If it's like 2012... Imagine a straight crowdline parallel to the runway, with the display line positioned at the far right of the airfield and offset at 45 degrees to the crowdline. I don't know whether this is similar though. A great shame, as last year was about as tidy a non-Old Warden display ...

Thanks Elliott yes that's what I was trying to say

At present on the ground are the c-47, bestman, RNHF Harvard, Seafire and Grace Spitfire. Bad weather is keeping most acts away until tomorrow morning.

Re: The Victory Show 2016 (Cosby)

OK got the answer and goodish news. There will be 2 display axis. For the lighter aircraft things will be normal. Larger aircraft will be on an axis which crosses the airfield further out, similar to it was in 2012. Because of this they will have a viewing area near the battlefield close to the road...

Re: The Victory Show 2016 (Cosby)

It's about 7m deep between the fence and hedge. They haven't got any displays placed in the crowd line this year, well so far anyway. I'm still trying to track down someone who can tell me what the display axis will be

Re: The Victory Show 2016 (Cosby)

I'm at cosby now. The crowd line has been moved about a metre back than previous years but all of the usual viewing points are still accessible. I've not been able to confirm what the display line will be but as they are making car parks sterile during the flying it suggests it will be like normal, ...
