Re: RIAT 2018 discussion

Just to add my two penneth. Quite often it is all well and good seeing a list of x or y from whichever country but a lot is down to what the organisers do with such assets. The behind the scenes work to secure all the participation is just incredible and much of this is an ongoing thing which pays d...

Re: RIAT 2018 discussion

Well I believe 9 of the participants may be accounted for today as the goodly folks at RAF Benson and RAF Odiham ventured out in to the sun. Here’s a quick video taken from a lay-by earlier near my local.

Re: RIAT 2018 discussion

Call me Brevet Cable if you wish but is the MH-60 that amazing given it will be exactly the same (bar serial and codes) as the LN machines we've had of late?? Just a thought as I can think of lots of other goodies they could drop in the back of something to cross the pond.... All good though of cou...

Probably too busy with football related journalism to pay us a visit. Is it a coincidence in this weekend with far less football than normal, he has been posting in a number of places you should expect him to read (RIAT forum, XH558)? First day off since last weekend, if you must know. I fail to se...

Re: RIAT past and present.

Two for me. One was 95 with the finale set piece to commemorate the 50th anniversary of VE Day. The sight and sound of all the a/c lined up on the runway with heli’s hovering just behind followed by the missing men flypast and the reds v break with Spit/109/ mustang flying through left me gobsmacke...

Yeah, during the course of putting that post together it all came back to be Geoff; that pattern of alternating every other year and also stretching to accommodate Farnborough between the two in even years. You look back on these things and overwhelmingly you remember the stuff you saw, the likelih...

Re: Fighter Collection Projects

I'm fully aware of the issues surrounding the Tigercat sale. TFC have already owned a Mosquito, probably the best available example worldwide for a return to flight. It is now flying with Paul Allen's collection at Paine Field. The reasons for the decision not to proceed with the restoration are ag...

Re: Fighter Collection Projects

I should have been more specific with my comment about the lack of CURRENT P47,P-51's,Hurri's etc in that I appreciate what has been through the TFC stable over the years but was just looking at the current fleet and it seems a bit, shall I say, 'lighter' than of recent? Maybe it's my increase in y...

Fighter Collection Projects (Merged)

Just a quick query as unfortunately I didn't make it over to TFC's hangar at the Duxford September show.... How are the long term TFC projects doing? The Sea Fury,Falco, Beau and Spit 22 projects seem to have gone awfully quiet. The beau's Eng situation and proposed sale have been well documented bu...

Re: September Air Show 2017

Thanks Mike. Hadn't realised R4118 had come and gone. Shame but a nice replacement with Biggin's example. It all seems to have gone quiet on the Biggin 109. I'm assuming there's no chance of a last minute addition? Post on here the other day said it was seen on a recent hangar tour without the engi...

I see the Hurricane count is up to 8 if you include the BBMF, with Biggin Hill Heritage Hangers example being added TFC Gladiator and P-36C have dropped off. Re: What Happened to These?

Wrt G BNNA, here's the AAIB report on its demise. All pre-flight checks were completed normally, and the aircraft departed Leicester Airport on a pleasure flight. Having climbed to a safe height, the pilot performed a slow roll and, on completion of the manoeuvre, reduced power to a cruise setting. ...

Re: A positive view of Saturday

I left home at 05:10 and 85 miles and 90 minutes later I was in the car park I had a nap until 08:45 rather than walk to the end of the queue Woke up and was in the showground in 15 minutes, never had it so easy Admission and security was beautifully smooth Lots of smiling faces from volunteers, wh...
