Re: Oshkosh 2018

Returning to Oshkosh next year after an 11 year break, like others flying into Chicago O'hare and driving up to Oshkosh via a few airfields to arrive on the Friday before the show actually starts. With regards to accommodation I have booked a house about 1/4 mile from Wittman Airport so no commute t...

Old Warden Evening Airshow.

Made only my second visit to The Shuttleworth Collection for their Evening Airshow. As always this place never fails to impress with some thoughtful formations and great flying. Nice to see three Hurricanes gracing the skies together before we were blessed with an amazing display from a solo Hurrica...

A very 'special' SPTA visit!

I paid my first ever visit to Everleigh Dz on Salisbury Plain on Wednesday 14th Sept, I don't think it will ever get any better than this day! When I arrived on the SPTA there was a pair of Middle Wallop Apaches already using Everleigh Dz https://c8.staticflickr.com/8/7499/29616895911_fba8849840_h.j...

My first and last time at Beachy Head yesterday. As has already been pointed out other than the arrival of the BBMF photo opportunities are zero. Talking to others that were regulars on the head they won't be returning in the future unless things change. I wonder how different Bournemouth will be at...

Re: Sigma 150-600 Sport - any feedback?

With regards to the screw, my fell out at Silverstone on Sunday, no hope of finding it, it is very small but a quick email to SIGMA and I had a replacement FOC within 2 days. Easy to repair and mine is securely fixed in with thread lock and super glue.

Re: Old Warden display line changes

A little known fact about the new CAA restrictions is that Flying Display Directors can apply to the CAA for a waiver. For example I know of a forth-coming airshow where the Great War Display Team have been permitted to fly up to 50m of the crowd line but not above 200ft.

Farnborough Airshow - Tuesday

After a hectic few days at RIAT and the British Grand Prix it was time to pay the bi-annual visit to Farnborough. after Mondays wash-out I wasn't sure what to expect but the staff on the site had done an amazing job overnight preparing the site for the following day. They were still working during t...

Silverstone F1GP Heli's

With most aviation enthusiasts either at Duxford or Fairford I thought I'd dry something different, namely watching some cars going around a track in Northamptonshire quite quickly. To my surprise(not) there was an adjacent heliport and I just so happened to have my camera I thought it would be rude...

Re: Tamron 150-600mm vs sigma 150-600mm

No, all are good lenses although the original 100-400 is getting on a bit now. The only reason that I barely use the canon lenses now is because of the extra reach with the Sigma's and with the new restrictions at airshows etc the extra 200mm does make a difference

Re: Tamron 150-600mm vs sigma 150-600mm

I have both versions on the Sigma 150-600mm lens. Both are extremely good lenses at all focal lengths but I find the sports version is quicker to focus than the contemporary. That said I have taken loads of very pleasing images with the contemporary version. In my opinion both lenses are superior to...
