Puts me in mind of the Bede BD5; something the Treasury might actually stump up for - the Bede not the Aeralis.

When I was young (5) and living in Dulwich (tulse Hill really) I used to watch the Golden Arrow going down to the coast - would that have been a Battle of Britain class Loco? (1963 ish)

Re: FRIAT 2024

They've had a standing order option for years and now have taken it away, that's a problem for quite a few people I expect. It's all well and good saying people have had from July to start saving, but they weren't aware they had to, as there was an installment option in previous years! IIRC it went...

Re: FRIAT 2024

The no monthly payment option will probably force me away, asking me for hundreds of pounds one month before Christmas and not even telling me how much my actual ticket (with loyalty discount) will be, thats shocking. Point 1. on historical practice you're probably going to get a maximum of £30 dis...

Re: FRIAT 2024

I have just received my email with a) the option to confirm attendance next year, b) the fee structure and c) the time scale to pay.

No standing order facility for this time around but a few months to pay.

Here's to 2024

This is really useful information which will be winging its way over to the docents (that's American for volunteer!) at the Smithsonian NASM in Washington D.C.

Public transport to DX - normal days

When I was in the US last September I made a contact at the Smithsonian - and ended up taking him around DX in late November. He has just contacted me to check the public transport options as listed on the DX website as other members of their volunteering team hope to visit; the bus timetable on the...

“For want of a nail the shoe was lost, for want of a shoe the horse was lost and because the horse was lost the kingdom was lost.” A bung (£100 even at defence prices) was shoved in too far and nobody notices on the preflight so £100 million ends up in the Med. and should it be up to the pilot to no...

You all really can’t help it can you?. I’d trust them with my money on a project long before I’d trust any of you keyboard warriors on here. Although, unlike many on t'internet, I choose to go under my name I do have an alter ego. As such I am also a member of the Nigerian royal family with substan...

Ambivalent about your first point because it’s potentially a serious discussion for the wider aviation heritage community.

Disagree with your second paragraph.

Fell off sofa laughing at your last point.

Thank you for the update; always good to find out what didn’t quite work, why something was done one particular way and not another and, most importantly, that lessons are learnt and acted upon.

Back for one post, and one post only...... Re: FRIAT 2024

Wes, the plan is that you will be contacted to confirm, or otherwise, your wish to book your seat for next year. Wendy (face to face conversation) said she hoped to start the process mid August and complete by end of September. They were also looking at a way to spread payment rather than have to pa...

So do folks think we'll get the first attendees listed today? I'm going for the RJF, US F-35 demo and the Swedish Historics Viggen and Draken. And a Raphael. Hope there is a B1-B and no helicopters in the flying. Raphael would certainly fit the vintage category but his paint palette might get messy...

Hi Tom, thanks for putting together the review. Sorry we didn't get to catch up this year but whenever I ventured along to the naughty end of the stand you weren't at your seat - hopefully next year. Anyway, I'm afraid I'm with Berf on your criticism of the USAF being harsh. I think you, indeed we a...
