Re: RIAT 2012 Participants
A quick question I would like to ask to the moderators on this site, What is the average age of the people who post on here because looking through the last few pages I would hazard a guess at about 6 or 7 maybe pushing it 8??? DBH have done a spectaculear job this year (not that I think they dont e...

Re: Cosford Airshow 2012 |OT|
Hi Sabre86 Cosford is a good all round day out (as long as the weather holds out ) The static is generally a couple of helos plus some of the Jags pushed out of the tech training hangers (although one year the french managed to get a cn295 in) As for the flying display its generally RAF and civvie w...

Re: The RIAT mole has resurfaced!!!
Looking at the first bit of the clue from a musical angel Peter Paul and Mary sang a song called "Settle down" they also did a song called "Puff the magic dragon" This was the knickname for the AC-47 Gunship and is also the knickname for the latest incarnation the AC-130 spectre ...

Re: Accommodation for the RIAT
I understand that you dont like camping but have you considered the alternatives? You are not going to find anything within walkin distance that resembles a hotel or B & B so that leaves you having to try around Swindon (easy access to the shuttle bus) and as many have already pointed out on her...

Re: RIAT 2011 Participation Discussion
I think people are trying to read too much into these press releases. RIAT are just posting info as they get it. I guess you would still be moaning if RIAT didnt post anything and just kept you in the dark. The press realease maybe a condition of the sponsorship all companies want something for thei...

http://directactionstation.com/?p=3476 The bloke is an idiot....... Totally agree. I have given him my two cent's worth in the comment box though it wont change...

Re: RIAT 2011 Participation Discussion
I think RIAT have done a good job this year OK there isnt the quantity we have become accustomed to over the years but they have made up or that with some quality. Yes other airshows have got good line ups but how many can boast A-10, Rafale, Saudi Hawks, Italian tornado, Austrian 105, Sweedish grip...

Re: RIAT 2011 Participation Discussion
How did you come up with 13hours of top class entertainment? There are literally only just over 20 flying displays I particularly want to see. So about 4hours of top class entertainment... So just because you only want to see half the show the rest ceases to be top class entertaintment for everyone...

Re: RIAT 2011 Participation Discussion
I cant believe all this talk about whether or not two aircraft were from the same era, I'm guessing all RIAT were trying to imply is that both aircraft were designed for use in the cold war, in the same way when the typhoon was first commissioned (late 80s) it was believed it would be flying against...

Re: RAF Cosford 2011 - General Advice Needed!
Hi Massive, due to the fact the vulcan is flying this year the traffic will probably be quite bad. The flying dose'nt normally start till about 12 so you have plenty of time to get in. The static is usually just a couple of aircraft (other than the museum aircraft ) so there is plenty of time to get...

Re: Taking a group of Air cadets to RIAT
Hi if you are just visiting the show for the day you should be able to get the cadets in for free regardless of age as long as they are in uniform. I took my cadets a couple of years ago. The offer was only open for cadets in uniform as long as they are accompanied by a full paying memebr of staff a...

Re: RIAT Accommodation
Best thing to do is camp at one of the many campsites surrounding the base. I personally stay at one in Lechlade called Bridge house campsite. I realise camping is not for everyone and there are those who cant do without their home comforts, but if you want to to get to the show without having to ge...
