Once again the elegance of the VC10 is demonstrated. Is it still possible to build functionally superior but beautiful aricraft?

Love #10 of the Lancaster. Great lighting (how did you light both the top and the bottom of the engine nacelles?) and nicely displays just how much of the fuselage is bomb bay.

Re: Airshow - An Organisers View

So to sum up: - Airshow organisers are at a particular disadvantage compared to other show organisers because the key elements of their shows can be seen for miles - Some airshows either don't provide the best possible facilities for some specialist users or suffer from simple geographical limitatio...

What were the Vulcan's escorts? I can't quite see from the photo.

Was this XH558's homage to the B2 and its F15s?

Re: Anti-drone protesters break into RAF Waddington

Just what were they going to do if they had found out where the 'drones operated from'? Aren't the Reapers now being controlled from Waddington, but no unmanned airframes are based out of there? I believe they are being controlled from Waddington but they fly out of Creech AFB or Kandahar when on o...

Re: Stupid names for aircraft...

Not that keen onn nicknames myself either - but Tiffie doesn't strike me as being too dreadful an example and does indeed hark back to the original Typhoon of WW2 fame, so there is a tenuous historical link there. As for the Boulton-Paul Defiant, I would never classify that as a stupid name. 'Daffy...

Re: Stupid names for aircraft...

Presumably in the mid/late 1970's, General Dynamics (I assume it was they) who thought that the name 'Falcon' didn't have the required impact for their new F-16 single-engine jet aircraft - so 'Fighting' was added to it? Have there been other 'fighting' aircraft? I think they added "Fighting&q...

If you decide to stand somewhere near an airshow and a plane falls on you, c'est la vie. Its nobody's business but yours. If a plane 'falls on you' do you seriously think the out come should or ever would ever be, oh well c'est la vie'? First someone will have to clean you up, then the investigatio...

Albemarle Bisley Sound like country house names You left out Blenheim, on that basis. Sadly we now live in a society where 'I can and will go wherever I want if there is no law to stop me'. Common sense does not even come into it. When a past Hawk display pilot raised concerns about the throngs under the B axis he was just ignored by lots of the photographers on here... so what can ...

Nice. Looks like you went higher up the hill than I did.

I like the Lanc shots South of the dam, but you've had the same trouble as me with glare on the upperwings from that inconveniently placed sun. It would be nice if they did it at 0900 instead of 1300!
