Re: Vulcan XH558 to leave Doncaster, possible ferry flight

Given that they raised £500K, that does pro rata leave £450K with VTST, which is a decent sum to go towards moving XH558. I've seen this £450k out of £500k left mentioned a few times but I've no idea where it comes from? I think it comes from the fact that the fundraiser for the hangar got cancelle...

Re: Vulcan XH558 to leave Doncaster, possible ferry flight

I suppose that technically the money that has been donated towards the now defunct new hangar should be offered back to those who donated it as it has not been used for the purpose it was donated for. If the people state that it can be used to help 558's future, or for that matter the Canberra (whi...

Re: Vulcan XH558 to leave Doncaster, possible ferry flight

Am pretty sure all the XM serial a/c are all 301 engine? However, I should have been a bit more specific by ref it to B.2's, as I think the B.2A at Duxford might be a 202, as well as the B.2A at MAM, as both are XJ & XL serials, and poss the B.2A at Carlisle might be 202 powered as well as that...

Re: Time for a new UK military airshow?

I would love to see a new military airshow but feel there is a total lack of commitment from the forces. We need to see comitment to show atleast a couple of aircraft from each squadron on the ground ( transports, Airseeker etc excluded) and atleast a demonstration of each type in the air. A real r...

Re: Vulcan XH558 to leave Doncaster, possible ferry flight

I’m sure they’ll be someone out there will the skills to dismantle it, move it by road and then reassemble it in such condition that it can still be taxied. It will be a huge task, though, and not something quick to do. Aside from the more obvious dismantling of the airframe into transportable compo...

Re: Vulcan XH558 to leave Doncaster, possible ferry flight

I did not know that they had so much money 'left over' I had the impression that it had been used for the ongoing costs to date trying to keep her in the news/engine running/planning for new accommodation etc, if that is the case then yes it will go a long way to getting her moved. Pity that one of...

Re: Vulcan XH558 to leave Doncaster, possible ferry flight

As for moving her, as others have said a ferry flight is not likely to be permitted and dismantling and moving would be an expensive undertaking and who would do it, again, as others have said, there won't be the money around to help this time and certainly not in the quantities that would be neede...

Re: XH558 News

If Peel has an agreement with VTTS, they can’t just rip it up because they decide to sell the place.... Yes they can, because they aren't stupid enough to have signed an agreement without a raft of conditions and caveats, allowing for such a contingency. My apologies - I didn’t realise you had seen...

Re: XH558 News

Should always have gone to an established museum. The trouble is, if your criteria were a museum that … 1. Must be able to accept delivery by air and sustain a live taxiing operation. 2. Doesn’t already have a Vulcan. … your choices were pretty limited. Elvington - but the museum don’t own the runw...

Re: XH558 News

We have an agreement in place 😂 You can't have an agreement if the place doesn't exist any more. Muppets. I think they are talking about the present situation. It’s perhaps a bit disingenuous to describe them in this way. The VTTS team want the very best for the aircraft and are certainly not ‘Mupp...

Re: XH558 News

if they (Peel) as owners want to develop the site they will want vacant possession I would think - same as happened at Brunty with the Tristars and VC.10s the motor auction group(forgot their name sorry) bought the site to use as they pleased with no aircraft on it so the aircraft that couldn't be ...

Re: Obscene food prices at Cosford, time to boycott.

There were lots of free water tanks around, brightish blue, same at Fairford. I thought the same at La Ferté last week, until I saw Frenchmen standing there peeing into them! Does anyone remember the year at Fairford when they brought in a few sets of ‘continental’ style urinals but didn’t w...

Re: Obscene food prices at Cosford, time to boycott.

Airshow organisers normally sell their catering pitches as a single concession, so quite often all the cream vans and all the burger vans will be working for a single company or will have had to purchase their pitch from the concession holder. The airshow organiser and the concession holder will oft...

Re: Blackburn Beverley anyone?

It’s also a shame that the guy bought it as a business proposition, didn’t do his sums properly, now expects others to pay for his lack of due diligence, and is already playing the blame game for the project’s failure. Why would anyone expect there to be museum or government funding available for a...

Thanks - I live locally and have walked around Shoeburyness and, when open, Foulness Island more times than are probably good for me. I have never seen or heard anything about MiG-27s being present.
