Re: DDR - 21st Century Style (Loadsapics)

Kev, It was probably the same one - organised by High Wycombe. Was great fun but it did seem very strange doing a stand about the development of Bomber Command and Bomber Harris in the middle of Berlin! They are looking to go somewhere much warmer for the next couple of trips if you're interested. Lee

DDR - 21st Century Style (Loadsapics)

Having seen Kokpit's East Germany thread, purely by chance I was in the former DDR this week with a work-sponsored ' Behind the Wire' Staff Ride. The first couple of days were spent in Berlin. Kipot and co. will have vastly different pictures than these... The Reichstag, home of the German Parliamen...

Re: Myrtle Avenue

Check the BBC website for weather details and that will give you a clue for wind direction. Don't know how far you've got to travel , but look at http://www.civilaircraftregisters.org/Mode_S_Resources/LogReport/EGLLADSB.asp for current runway usage. Getting to the necessary spotting locations is eas...

Re: Chasing Vapour - LHR 12 Oct 08

Andy, we walked all the way along the line of those gathered towards the corner.

I went for a walk across the field for about 20 minutes or so (standing on the grass bank at the bottom of Myrtle Ave) to get the 'across the wing' shots.

Chasing Vapour - LHR 12 Oct 08

Took the camera for a spin this morning to the local (first time out of its bag since Farnborough!!) to see some airliner/moisture action. Lasted about an hour or so before the sun burnt it off. Some a/c weren't even visible until they past over the Myrtle Ave grassy knoll it was that foggy. Any-roa...

Have to agree with you, Tom about ATI92.

I think this and IAT 93 and 94 (the ones with the Bears and Aussie F-111) were the best airshows I've ever attended let alone worked at!

Halcyon days

Return of the Saints...

Just seen some information to the effect that four Squadrons have been reactivated with Reserve status. In a nutshell, the majority are related to EFTS units at Cranwell, Wyton and Church Fenton as well as CFS at Cranwell. Details are: No 1 Squadron, 1 EFTS – RAF Cranwell will become 16 (Reserve) Sq...

Re: Hunters from Honington - mostly...

MD,

So where did you work at Honington then?

The Big H was my first ever posting in the RAF (Prop Flt from Jun 82 to May 85).

Seeing these pics brings back some bloody great memories.

Thanks,

Lee

Almost as bad as Easyjet!!!!

Loved Ezy everytime I've flown with them.

Done RYN twice and their cattle market approach to boarding the a/c is what I hate about them. At least with Ezy you board the aircraft in a civilized fashion.

The Orange Machine beats the Oirish anytime.

Re: JSF Slating - Janes Defence Weekly

On the question of high wing-loading doesn't that make it less manouvrable? Surely the ability to turn tightly down in the dirt is something of an essential rather than nice-to-have capability? The tighter an aircraft can turn at low altitude reduces the time between attack runs and provides more su...

Re: RAF NORTHOLT

The list of requests is still being put together. Letters will be sent in the coming months. No doubt about 50% of what is requested won't make it to Northolt but the intention is still to make it bigger and betterr than last year. Phil (Graf Zeppelin) will, no doubt, keep the board up to date with ...

Re: uploading RAW images from CF card

It's nothing to do with the cards. The 40D uses a different format for creating the RAW image which has caused a few people to be caught out. Go to the Adobe website and download a copy of the Adobe Camera RAW plug-in and all should be well. It can be found here - http://www.adobe.com/support/downlo...
