Good to have the seating plan back. It must be nearly RIAT.
A-66 for me please Tom.

Re: FRIAT 2023 ticket increases discussion
Wait, you mean airshows actually need to cater to people who aren't enthusiasts? And that enthusiasts make up a pathetically small number of airshow goers? That's a silly comment. The capacity of FRIAT is the same as previous years and has usually sold out. Clearly there's a problem this year, for ...

Re: Cosford Airshow 2023 (discuss everything)
No public access to hangars 3 and 4. not sure if there was last year? 2019 they were open and doing engineering demos with the jags. Looks like alot less on the ground this year or is it me? As you say, 1 to 3 were open in 2019, but just 1 and 2 last year. The lack of static aircraft in the blast p...

So is the F-35, so its rather baffling to me that the speculation has blown up again. Because its going to a completely different airshow later in September.bobby 1211 wrote: ↑Tue 06 Jun 2023, 2:30 pmThe F-22 demo is from ACC which DBH did not include in the list of units they expect to attend this year.

Re: Cosford Airshow 2023 (discuss everything)
Wingwalkers are a great display, and OTTO is actually quite fun and is a great family item as you say. I have never seen the turbulent team. Any of these with the Strikemaster pair would be great late addtions. The Turbs? be careful what you wish for :-) It is an unusual state of affairs where we h...

Re: Where is everyone staying this year?
Kempsford for me, again. Its convenience of location still wins for me over the inconvenience of camping.
Its been many years now since I've had to drive in and out of the show, and that cold beer on getting back to the site after a long day in the showground is the best pint of the weekend.

This is an ace set, properly unusual and rare stuff and lovely shots.
It might have been a bit of an ordeal Peter but hey, the images are in the collection now, so mission accomplished!

Re: Cosford Airshow 2023 (discuss everything)
There were big gaps last year. I’d caution against taking start time and end time and deducing the duration of flying content from that.
I’m intrigued as to what tomorrow may bring. I hope things are going to be padded out a bit.

Its an interesting one this one. I'm reserving judgement on the show itself until show day, but can't help wondering if there's going to be any more to it than we know now.
We'll find out soon!

This will indeed be..... forever Mildenhall weekend.... alas, no longer. I'm not sure where to start with 5, but here are some dodgy old scans, well aired before, and posted again just to pay due respects to Air Fete. https://live.staticflickr.com/4249/34785752944_2c04613cc1_c.jpg https://live.stati...

Re: Cosford Airshow 2023 (discuss everything)
Is that actually an official Instagram though I wonder. They seem to have announced things that the other main accounts on social media haven't. Anyway, given Cosford is the only RAF show, I really hope we get the newly announced BBMF/Typhoon formation. Given that they've confirmed they will have t...

Re: The Argentines - wasn't a captured Pucara put on static display the year after the War? 1983, yes, although it had MoD serials and UK markings. Similarly, ex Argentine Huey G-HUEY appeared 87 and 89, but I don't think that counts either, not being actually operated by Argentina at the time. Its...

Re: Cosford Airshow 2023 (discuss everything)
Having just done a bit of a stock take, there are 19 (or maybe 20) items announced for the flying display this year. In comparison, last year had 19, counting the 3 RAF flypasts as 3 items. There may be more to come; an F-35 stop and hover would go down very well with the Cosford crowd, but maybe it...

Re: Cosford Airshow 2023 (discuss everything)
Its only four weeks away, that's crept up. Hopefully there's more to come, or my Cosford Club tickets are going to look like a very very expensive luxury. Cosford has always amounted to a bit more than the sum of its parts, especially in the airfield based stuff operating and taxying close to the cr...

Re: Caper and mini Caper at Cosford
Nice shots Paul. I went down to Cosford in January to shoot the test flight aircraft that had been placed outside. I assumed they'd only be there for a short period, but finding them looking as if they're there for the duration left me rather deflated. I got some decent shots especially of the Meteo...

Re: Cosford Airshow 2023 (discuss everything)
Other than the Pat Suisse at present, its pretty desolate. Some nice airframes being moved out, if they're parked well, I'd like to get a clear pic of the Jaguar ACT being a ripple fan, remember it flying at Farnborough in 1984. Trouble is the light can be grim at Cosford until late afternoon, so i...

Re: RIAT 2023 Discuss everything thread
Personally, (and it's only my opinion, which could be wrong) I think the Falcons lose a bit of appeal for me when they jump out of smaller platforms. I recall the Hercules doing what I interpret to be a reasonably low, possibly dipped wing salute as the jumpers were all lined up at the end of the d...

That's not feasible. People travel from all over the country and journey times aren't predictable enough to arrive bang on time. And if you wave folks away there'll be chaos as they meet people coming the other way or park in inappropriate places to wait. All you need is a holding area which is orga...

The Harrier is a most welcome return, indeed a solid update. Paul you mention that the Italians have brought a Harrier only twice to the UK to your knowledge. Re: SoCal Airshow - March ARB April 22-23
I went to March way back in 2016, but the show this year is remarkably similar. The sun is bang in your face though, so be prepared. The upgrade to the enclosure makes things a bit more laid back. I thought it was worth the money, although not cheap. Here's a photo thread, apologies for the watermar...
