Re: Manston to re-open?

These people seem to think passenger flights will be departing from Manston https://www.majorcadailybulletin.com/holiday/airport/2023/01/31/109965/mallorca-flights-the-heart-kent-the-horizon.html They might by 2028; the OP was about the need for a 7th (8 if you count Southampton) London passenger a...

Manston to re-open?

does the South East really need another airport such a distance from London and with no rail connection? this was actually the very first UK airport I landed at in 1981 as Gatwick was fog-bound, we stayed there about an hour I remember seeing the Hoverlloyd craft at the old Pegwell bay hoverport as ...

Re: Flybe cease trading and cancel all flights

Yes Stelios did say in the magazine that he copied the idea from US low cost airlines. The first flight I took was Luton to Amsterdam (as they were the only carrier to offer 1 way flights) and I took a bicycle for free. It wasn't even a real airline I don't think they employed any actual sales staff...

Re: Flybe cease trading and cancel all flights

easyProp? when I started flying eJ 25 years ago they made a big thing in their inflight mag about a common aircraft type (although back then it was all B737) a whole load of other stats about how they could afford to sell cheap seats, it compared a eJ and a BA 737 showing how many seats each had to ...

Other examples of seaside shows include Dawlish, Weston-S-Mare, Sunderland, etc….
+ Herne Bay, Margate, Folkestone (OK it ran with a Dakota and the RAFAT in 2021)
Jersey a shadow of its normal self in 2022

Re: Air show degradation

with all the Reds problems and loss of The Blades free (mostly seaside) events are now becoming very threadbare whilst the pay to enter are mostly holding up well. The RAF seem to only be prepared to put on 3 / 4 displays now. If you mean the number of display teams, then see Tommy's point above. W...

Obviously I've never attended a coronation in the UK but what's the form? Did Willem - Alexander of the Netherlands get one? (can't think of any other recent ones)

doesn't sound like a non EU registered plane flying from the UK to the EU would qualify The regulation applies to any passenger: departing from an airport located in the territory of a Member State to which the Treaty applies; The protection accorded to passengers departing from or to an airport loc...

EU261 Lovely Jubbly

not sure if anyone knew about this any flight from the EU arriving later than scheduled arrival is allowed compensation (they handed out information forms as we boarded at Corfu over 3 hours late) €250, in the case of a type 1 flight; €400, in the case of a type 2 flight; €600, in the case of a type...

Arriving at the wrong gate

easyJet (well actually SmartLynx) made a boo boo an arrival back at LGW on our flight home from Jersey last night. We waited over 1 1/2 hours to get off the plane, the crew citing lack of buses (which is apparently true due to DHL taking over, it was delayed on the way out for the same reason). Sudd...

Re: Jersey International Air Display 2022

It was a good display although quite stilted and not just due to the weather preventing many planes flying in, there just wasn't the unusual international participation that normally makes it worth the trip. As it turned out it stayed dry but windy all afternoon. in the end it was the Pitts, S260 Br...

Re: Goodwood Revial Spots

The Revival organisation and event setup has changed a hell of a lot since 2004....! Its nothing like that now. OK I'll change my reply to the OP The airshow or flypast is arranged solely for the benefit of ticket holders to the event. There are several restrictions on the narrow access roads aroun...

wow that is lucky! Fantastic. I definitely need to do some research and get some times and dates lined up! Re: Jersey International Air Display 2022

if anyone (like me) cannot get a flight refund / change there are some very good Occupation sites to visit. Not the commercialised Jersey War Tunnels but the concrete defences all around the coast. There were several opened by the CIOS although it's a small volunteer led thing and they may not be op...

Re: Jersey International Air Display 2022

I was just looking at my glossy 2019 Programme, the centre spread of which is a B-52 (which was cancelled)

I suppose for a Jersey resident it's the only chance to see the RAF participants even though they are routine on mainland UK

Re: Bournemouth Air Festival 2022

Job done! a brief and very impressive B52 flypast but it did loop back to the IoW and looked like it was going to do another pass. It was much better to camp 2 nights get the train down (and cycle 200km back, something I do) and enjoy the whole day than spend the same £ driving up to Fairford for a ...
