Re: BoB Air Show - Runners and Riders

I believe Will Greenwood flew one of the Yak-3M’s (the one in grey camo).

(I think I met him once, years ago, in a bookshop in Hay-on-Wye, of all places. He said he was looking for a book on the Bücker Bestmann, because he’d just bought one!)

Re: September Air Show 2017

Don't suppose any one remembers the Canadian Lancaster visit when the museum car parks were full by 9AM and there was grid lock all day on the local roads and M11 from people trying to get in. The Police and County Council were not impressed and wanted some way of controlling the number of cars arr...

Re: September Air Show 2017

So how do we explain every other airshow that has ever been staged without significant traffic jams or car parking chaos that didn't charge people to park then? How did they manage it, and how do they continue to manage it at most other venues, if the solution to traffic is to charge for car parkin...

Re: September Air Show 2017

I'm going to suggest something radical to DX. Do a single ticket that includes both parking and flight-line; £34 Early-Bird, £40 Standard Entry. Any takers? I like it. They need to find a way to make it feel less like you're being charged for every aspect of the show individually, and a combined ti...

Re: September Air Show 2017

Oddly enough, over on PPRUNE, where it seems people can speculate as to the causes of such incidents with impunity (and in some cases might even be qualified to do so, as apparently some on there are actually real life pilots), half of those posting seem to be more concerned about the supposedly hig...

Well, today's posts are another prime example of how far UKAR's standards have slipped lower and lower in recent years. Are we really arguing over some sort of perceived sexism? Cretiny abounds. In the interests of upholding standards on this forum, I feel I should point out that "cretiny"...

There's a similar (fictional) incident in the novel "Ascent" by Jed Mercurio. At the time I read it, I thought it was so far fetched, it must have been based on a real incident!

Can someone please give BBC Radio Lincs an award for this? https://www.facebook.com/bbclincolnshire/photos/a.10151527875044403.1073741831.172796909402/10155030104669403/?type=3&theater To be fair, they do look similar... like sisters... except one's obviously "fitter" than the other.

It's also not unusual to go OUT at any time! da, da, da, da. da, da. Why?Why?Why? De li ler Delilah. As in the woman's name. As in the title of the song. While we're all back in English class...

Surely "wokka" is an onomatopoeia? (Say it repeatedly - "wokka wokka wokka wokka...")

And "beagle" (bomb eagle, i.e. F-15E) is I believe a portmanteau.

I feel I deserve a gold star for these.

I know this is a serious matter, but it made me chuckle…

Apparently, the accused are trying to pin all the blame on one individual, but if you ask me, it’s a case of collective guilt.

The stalls selling diecast and model kits seems to get less and less each year at airshows, instead being replaced by others that I wouldn't expect at an airshow. Maybe this time they could make a movie without blowing up a historic building. Maybe representing the Battle of Britain with bomb...
