Re: Sitting centre of the crowd line
It's just sour grapes. FRIAT users pay for the privilege to sit where they sit. There is a public grandstand that is available just along from there that you can sit in if wanted. If you are prepared to arrive early enough then places are available. The crowd line is plenty long enough. I got a spot...

Re: RIAT 2017 (Discussion & Participation Thread)
Yeah they did them for 93,94,95 & 96. All very good and was a crying shame that they didn't continue. A lot of the pictures contained came from members of the public sending them in. Has recently been a similar publication for the Waddington airshow released, and very decent it is too.

Re: Sitting centre of the crowd line
Would the people being 50m further back with a lawn viewing area in front really be a deal breaker when they all have Saturn 5 sized lenses anyway? I suspect not. It was the first area to sell out this year. I think you are wrong there, you should hear the cries and howls if anyone plonks themselve...

Re: Sitting centre of the crowd line
Exactly Ouragan Move the FRIAT and other grand stands back to just in front of the static line so the lawn area in front of the grandstands can be utilised. I think not! There would be pretty much zero take up of FRIAT if they pushed it back and they rake in a fair bit of FRIAT money, not far off h...

Re: Flying Legends 2017
I did enjoy the show over the weekend but Duxford just drop the ball on so many occasions. Why have 5 Hurricanes up but not have them fly by together. Re enactors are great and add a fair bit so why have American re enactors standing in front of RAF machines and vice versa. The Manhattan Dolls act.....

Re: Berlin Express Canopy shatters
I do have a shot of it, not very sharp however, that clearly shows that it didnt shatter immediately but became detached first and as it lifted into the airstream it then shattered. Looks like it detached along the right hand side, and with it still being attached on the left i guess the airstream g...

Re: Sea Vixen XP924 Thread
Screechy, do you honestly think a Harrier would be ignored at an airshow? Even RIAT. No I think it would be a great draw but mainly from the enthusiast and the more clued in public. These days the F35 can do the hover so it's no longer as unique as it once was (not that the F35 is a common display)...

Re: Sea Vixen XP924 Thread
All exciting aircraft to me but doubt Joe Public is going to be fussed with them too much. Neither are visible enough during a display, the Harrier spends most of its display time hovering in front of a limited crowd section and the Phantom just won't be recognised as anything different at all by J...

Re: RIAT 2017 (Discussion & Participation Thread)
Judging by how many people spend the entire show camped along the flightline rope at 8am and never move from it I've rarely seen anyone who camps up and then doesn't move. More often they camp up and once their castle of chairs, wind breaks, bungi cord, umbrella has been created they walk back and ...

Re: Sea Vixen XP924 Thread
It doesn't resonate with the public because it's not BIG enough size-wise or hype-wise either. As far as public support the only item I could see that would get the public support to the same levels as the Vulcan would be Concorde, other than that I don't think there is anything out there that would...

Re: Screechy @ Old Warden Evening Show 17/06/17
The Harvard shots are very nice indeed, although some look a bit soft, at the start, could be my monitor though. More likely it's my editing and setup. Not as crisp as i'd have liked but there you go, especially that 3 Hurricane stack, just not quite sharp enough. Still, glad I was there for it, wi...

Re: RAF Cosford Airshow - 11 June 2017
I know what you mean, however like it or not Shoreham changed a lot of things, and now shows may be suspended due to the formation of secondary crowds - not something that happens at a football match I understand the reasoning but still no reason for anyone to make a villain out of someone who find...

Re: RAF Cosford Airshow - 11 June 2017
I agree with not making anyone a scapegoat but when everyone was advised that viewing outside the showground was not advised then it is difficult to condone those actions. Surely any organiser would say the same though. If you knew of a spot to watch a football match from a better vantage point for...

Great pictures. Your slow shutter speed shots are impressive. The stack of three Hurricanes is the shot I wanted but didn't get! A fine set from a fine show. I got that shot but the Sea Hurricane was blurred! Cheers guys. As for the slow shutter speed shots, If I decide i'm going to go that low, ab...
