Very, very nice. I particularly like the shots with faces visible, they always create much more of a conection. Well done.

I've noticed that different browsers can have a marked effect on the image quality, on the same screen images look fine using firefox but flat and soft using Explorer. Its probably how the browser handles the color management but its yet another moving target when you're trying to get things just rig...

I saw it flying at Tours in 92/93ish, was really chuffed to see it, there's something about French jets from the fifties... http://i496.photobucket.com/albums/rr323/alanrp/ARP-034.jpg http://i496.photobucket.com/albums/rr323/alanrp/ARP-035.jpg http://i496.photobucket.com/albums/rr323/alanrp/ARP-036....

Re: Heart of Scotland Airshow A-Z.

The range of shots gives a good idea of what the day was like. There was a lot more water in the air than aircraft, so its no surprise that the autofocus went for it instead

Re: Perth airshow 2009

The Sea King was hovering low over a field near Kinross when we were traveling up, he dunno if that was the job or whether he was just keeping out of the Red Arrows way. A tricky job pointing a lens up the way in the conditions. Nice work.

Perth Airshow again

Due to a jet lagged companion I only got there for the second half. The variable weather couldn't dampen the enthusiasm of the fliers or the good sized crowd and as Spiny has already said the local's balloon bursting competition really caught the imagination of the audience, particularly the younges...

Not the particular machine that you're looking for but in a similar scheme. This was shot at Leuchars in the mid sixties at a show. Sorry about the state of the image but it's a raw scan with lots of work still to be done. If its of use I'd be happy to pass on a copy. http://i496.photobucket.com/alb...

Re: Edinburgh 26 05 09 just practicing

Thanks for the info. As regards the soft images, as I said its a pretty old lens, it's sharper than I was expecting (but still not a patch on a modern stabilised one) although at the top end (240 mm) distinctly fuzzy noses and tails. The images are flatter than I was expecting, they looked really pu...

Re: Edinburgh 26 05 09 just practicing

You did indeed, I sayed another couple of hours, but as you'd indicated it was a fairly quet time of the day for movements. I'm going to try and pop up on some of the sunny evenings round at Kirkliston, so I'll look out for you. Do you know if steps are needed round there?

Edinburgh 26 05 09 just practicing

I used a rare spot of daytime freedom to work on my panning and zooming at EDI, unfortunately it was the middle of the day and fairly quiet. The TBM was as close to exotic as it got. Shot Raw on an oldish Nikon D70 with an even older 70-240 zoom, processed in Capture One 4, the results are better tha...

Re: Piston twin over Edinburgh today?

There was an Aerocomander droning about the week before last, with a lovely throaty piston roar.It looked like it was engaged on survey work flying lines across the city. The Aerocomander has straight leading edges and forward swept trailing edges as does the Havoc. I'm sure some of the EDI spotter t...

I also witnessed the massed Phantom / Buc departures from Leuchars on several occasions and also several massed Phantom scrambles (eighteen as a strung out gaggle).I saw mixed formations of Phantoms and Starfighters a couple of times and B-52Gs at low level over Dundee on some happy summer days in 1...

Re: Old TV Programme

Going further back in time1978/79 I think, the BBC did a one off live "special" on the RAF called Skywatch. A mock convoy was set up on a range (dunno which one) and all the different types of front liners came in one after another and released their favourite live ordinace onto it. Jags w...

Re: Some scans from the Scottish airshows

I was interested to see the shot of the Wasp at Lossie in 1986,having also taken photo's of it and never really noticed the large box attached to its side.As it turns out this housed a vertical aeriel camera and recently as part of my day job I was involved in scanning some of the images taken with ...

Re: AEW Nimrod and a few Shackletons

I'd been meaning to look this shot out for some time so when I saw this post I finally got on with it. Also at the Lossie show in 86 on the Saturday morning. I had to sprint the length of the crowd line to get it (I haven't been right since) http://i496.photobucket.com/albums/rr323/alanrp/ARD-002.jpg
