Re: RIAT 2024 - discuss most things thread

Love to see the B52 flying even if it is 'just' a flypast. As for circling 'for about three hours' - just maybe it was on a training exercise - one way of getting around US aircraft not attending airshows unless they are involved in an operational task... and does a B52 it really do much more at a U...

Re: Aircraft Identification Help Requested

The first is the Curtiss F9C-2 Sparrowhawk. There is only one and it is now in the Smithsonian but it is not hanging up as far as I can tell. So it maybe when it was previously at the Museum in Pensacola which would tie in with the others although the museum has somewhat been refurbished since these...

Re: RAF Display North America

The Harrier landing in New York in 1969 Transatlantic Race I guess almost counts (there appears to be a grandstand with people in it in one picture)! This article shows https://www.warhistoryonline.com/guest-bloggers/birth-of-hawker-siddeley-harrier.html is quite interesting. The number of rules and...

Where did you used to collect them from in previous years, when the enclosure wasn’t open on Wednesday either? They had/have merch sellers in P&V, who you handed your vouchers to - no vouchers anymore, so as I say, I assume you just show them your FRIAT pass.... I had this question last year - ...

Re: RIAT 2024 - discuss most things thread

Looks quite 'formally smart' - I prefer the lighter blue from a few years ago but it still looks the part - even in the rain - better than the infamous stickers by far. What's the tail marked F18 in picture 2?

Re: Short Sunderland - London, September 1982

From Scottish Aircrew Association webpage It must have been sometime in 1981 that I received a telephone call from a complete stranger. Edward Hulton Jnr told me that he had recently bought a Sunderland Flying Boat. It was currently moored in Marseilles and he would very much like to bring it to Eng...

Last time I looked (before booking two-day tickets) this event has more than enough going-on in the air & on the ground already! One of the strongest line-ups seen in the UK for years. We need good weather & good aircraft reliability & we'll have witnessed a classic! :sunglas...

Re: FRIAT 2024

Thinking of doing FRIAT this year and was wondering if anyone had an idea if when you are in the FRIAT enclosure do you have to use your allocated seat always or can you rock up and stand or sit on the grass infront of the grandstand ? You can choose, use your seat or stand/sit in the grass section...
