Re: Where has XH558 thread gone?
Taff is still in charge, and I’m pretty sure he won’t allow things to slip, why would he? Thought he'd gone to Waddington ( as per Sam's post on the VTTS forum last year ) so wasn't full time with VTST any more....or has that changed? No I don't think that's changed - of course that doesn't mean he...

Re: Where has XH558 thread gone?
Still, have to say it was an excellent piece of diversion from RedsRolling to bring up the Victor incident Just shows how good Bruntinthorpes is, a place with a big expanse a layout that its proves its a safe place To do theses runs, 30 years of taxi running and one small incident that lessons have ...

Re: Where has XH558 thread gone?
I read a comment on Facebook last night that seemed to suggest that there was a problem with the most recent engine run. The post seemed to imply that the aircraft went tech and no refund for those attending. Am surprised that we wouldn't have heard about this before now, if there was anything to i...

Re: Where has XH558 thread gone?
do you remember when those numpties at Brunty thought it would be a good idea to put someone with no experience on the throttles of a Victor fast taxi run? No experience on the throttles of a Victor? IIRC, it had one of the Victor pilots that flew during Black Buck at the controls when the wind did...

Look for 27038, or the registration mark VLCN.
Thanks, interesting stuff.

I guess the apostrophe was due to the excitement of the moment, but does anyone actually know the specific Permit to Fly manoeuvring limitations / permitted manoeuvres that applied to XH558?

Re: Where has XH558 thread gone?
All very well demanding 'change' but in most situations in order attract support there'd be a candidate, an applicant, a rival etc spelling out their 'better' plan, and explaining their ability to deliver. People can then think rationally about whether they want to stick with what they've got, or su...

Re: Where has XH558 thread gone?
I'm very glad VTTS are in charge if 'chop it up' is the best alternative plan. No, its just probably the best alternative plan 'now'. You keep asking if anyone has any better ideas, and they did, and they were disregarded. Now your up a steaming creek with no means of propulsion, you keep knocking ...

Re: Jet Provost T.5 G-VIVM Repainted
Looks good to me! I've never quite understood all this knee trembling over 'raspberry ripple' paint schemes. You could never understand people's passion for Raspberry Ripple in any case, coz they never did a Vulcan in it! Yep maybe that's it! No need to start baring your bottom either - I wasn't sa...

Re: Where has XH558 thread gone?
Looks like a decent day for both the EGR events tomorrow. Perhaps some better pictures showing 558's current condition will appear online?
In any case, hopefully all goes well, people enjoy their day and there will be more events planned for the near future.

Re: Where has XH558 thread gone?
There's little doubt that VTTS has a very unusual, and loyal, clientele. Certainly there are very few (if any) aviation "enthusiasts" as we'd know them from this board or similar who are still taken in by the VTTS pledges, promises and cock-and-bull. The people who still follow them blind...

Re: Visit the Vulcan Day - Southend this Sunday
So XL426 can't taxi in public and XM655 taxi days seems to be a thing of the past, so it may be reasonably argued that the best chance of seeing a fast taxi in the near future might be at Doncaster! No, XL426 is in the best position for fast taxi runs, they have done it in the past and will do it a...

And where do you get your 672 aircraft from in RAF service today. Could half that number and still be too high. Wiki - adjusted for the current GR4 fleet size and Reds loss. Agusta A109SP GrandNew - 1 Airbus A400M Atlas - 18 Airbus Voyager - 14 Beechcraft King Air - 7 Beechcraft Shadow - 5 Bell Gri...

Re: Where has XH558 thread gone?
The same applies to some extent with the CAA. There will have been something in the discussions that will have been a dealbreaker - VTTST have already admitted in the past they looked at a ferry flight and rejected it. No headlines, no stopped presses. No answers either. Still, one small e-mail and...

Lots of reasons ( often very much in the plural ) why something like this can happen.
Clearly something's gone wrong.
I wouldn't rush to be too judgemental.
