That's odd, one flew over Manchester at about 1815h this evening when I was cycling back from work. It was flying an unusual direction and altitude for heading into Manchester Airport. It was low enough to see the dome and pods on ten wing tips. Strange one, doubt it was RAF as they only have pods ...

Not really a dead stick landing, but good job by John Romain as expected from someone with his experience. It was lucky that it didn't go a few weeks back when it went to Switzerland, could have been a different story.

As an addendum to point 1, it's an aircraft that saw no service in the UK (that I can think of?), and as such there are no real ties to it being here, whereas in the States there are no doubt plenty! F86A's of the 116th and 78th were based at RAF Shepherds Grove and later Bentwaters in the 50's. No...
