Re: Battle of Britain Airshow 2020 - 18th-20th September.
I'm in two minds as to whether to buy a ticket as well. I would really like to attend but I've yet to be convinced that appropriate safety measures can and will be put in place. I'm not prepared to put my health at risk without knowing what the measures are, though clearly others have been convinced...

Re: 15th August - Magnificent Musical Flying Display
Unfortunately, the weather doesn't always play ball. That's a real shame for everyone involved, especially after the weather we've had recently.

Thanks itfcscott, I see it now. I think there have been a few updates today as it wasn't there yesterday.itfcscott wrote: ↑
The SVAS price is £45, they are available further down the page from the normal tickets on the Shuttleworth website.

Re: Vintage Air Day Sun 6th Sep
I agree with what Elliott has written. It is good value if there are two or more in the car, especially in the current circumstances. However, I'm a lone traveler and I have also renewed my SVAS membership this year with no expectation. There was an SVAS discount available on the original advance ti...

Re: Vintage Air Day Sun 6th Sep
I've been a Shuttleworth supporter and SVAS member for quite a few years now. I also renewed my SVAS membership at a time when I thought it unlikely that there would be any airshows at all this year, content that the money was going to a good cause. However, given that I will be attending this show ...

Re: Vintage Air Day Sun 6th Sep
I had already purchased a ticket at the original price. I know I will effectively be paying for the space however, £45 as an SVAS member is expensive as I will be travelling alone.

Re: Battle of Britain Airshow 2020 - 18th-20th September.
Generally, I found on the recent showcase day that people behaved well and kept their distance. Other than having some hand-sanitiser available on the museum side of the shop I didn't notice many other measures in place. I didn't see any sanitiser at the entrance which is surprising given that peopl...

Re: Sunday 2 August – Drive-in Airshow (At the Movies)
Yesterday was my first time back at Old Warden this year and what a day it was. Congratulations to everyone at the Shuttleworth, it was well organised and I felt quite safe. I arrived shortly after the gates had opened and was directed into the holding area. I waited about 35 minutes or so until it ...

Re: Duxford Showcase Days 2020
I've just had a similar message from Customer Services confirming that the museum opens at 10AM and those with showcase tickets can arrive at a time that is convenient for themselves. There may be a short wait due to social distancing etc.

Euan, thanks for pointing out my error, my bad. I really should have checked before submitting. I've corrected my error and added clarity for you. Apologies to everyone. I always wondered why they have to put instructions on shampoo.

BA retires entire Boeing 747 fleet
British Airways (BA) has retired its entire 747 fleet today with immediate effect according to the BBC website. BA is (was) the world's largest operator and has cited the downturn due to COVID-19. The 747 was due to retire in 2024.

Re: Sunday 2 August – Drive-in Airshow (At the Movies)
I just missed out on tickets for the 18th July show so I decided to buy my tickets for the August Drive In early. I've never been disappointed at the Shuttleworth and even if its 'home based' aircraft only it will still be a pleasant day out and beats lockdown hands down. I'm looking forward to it a...

Oh dear, that's an early start for me then with a 5am departure. The wording on the ticket is as follows: 'Your allocated entrance time shown on the ticket above is the earliest time you should arrive and your entry time slot covers half an hour. Visitors to the museum spend on average up to 2 hours...

Yes, mine also shows 06.55. Even if the museum has reopened by then I wouldn't expect the gates to have opened at that time. I might have jumped into the car by then but that's only because it will be the first time I've been anywhere other than my local food superstore in months.

I have no doubt that the architects and engineers involved designed to modern building standards as required. The building wouldn't have been approved otherwise. You may question whether the standards are appropriate to withstand say a nuclear explosion to avoid any claims.

Re: Duxford Storm Damage
If someone was to be injured by flying bits of IWM, they would sue the corporate bodies responsible if there is clear negligence - the Trust that runs the IWM on behalf of the state and / or the Highways agency who would look to their liability insurers to pay the bill if they lost . The worst exce...

Re: 2020 Show Dates
I'm slightly biased as I try to attend all of the regular (day) airshows at Old Warden (OW) though I wasn't that successful this year. In my view I've not attend a 'bad' show there yet, though clearly some are better than others as regards attendance by non OW based aircraft. The Season Premiere and...

I assume the Sally B and Catalina memberships are valid on Showcase Days as they are not classed as airshows? Do they also give access to the onsite parking on those days?

Currently it's blue sky with sunshine and fluffy clouds in London. That's also the BBC forecast for Old Warden with some light rain. I think I'll give it a shot.

Re: Duxford Battle of Britain Airshow 2019
The shuttle bus queue currently looks like a scene from Dunkirk. I decided to make weekend of it but booked my tickets after the onsite parking had been snapped up as I didn't know if I would be free to go. Babraham P&R was also sold out for Saturday so I was left with Trumpington P&R. Got ...
