Re: RIAT 2019

Have I missed something? At the moment only the Belgian F16 has been announced - did I miss another self-confirmation?

When was the last time the USAF F16 demo performed at RIAT?

Re: Daks Over Normandy - June 2019

There is no Scottish International air show this year. It is back as a 3-day event in 2020.

Looks like the organisers are using their expertise to run a static event with the Daks - well done to them.

"Best thing to do with a problem like Duxford is hit them where it hurts. Their wallet. I used to like going over Duxford when they could capture some real gems, but now its pretty much been the same stagnant seaside filler acts (Rafale/Duxford based warbirds aside) for a few years. Would like ...

Anybody know how this is progressing?
I see that they have secured the Typhoon, but their rather limited website mentions a final decision regarding whether they enough funds to proceed - is it a go?

Re: RIAT 2019

"Agree totally, the 27 is a bit of a regular nowadays at RIAT..... think RJF." You have to laugh... an aircraft that hadn't visited RIAT for 20 years finally makes it in 2017 and after only two years it is being dismissed in these terms. I think that some people on here don't have any idea...

Guernsey Air Display 2019

It has just been announced that Guernsey's bid for a Red Arrows display on June 6th 2019 has been successful, so the entire Air Display is being moved to that date (1100 - 1315). For those of you who aren't going to Caen to view the Daks!

Re: RIAT 2019

My, my, what have the Blades done to deserve all this vitriol? "Seaside act"? Cosford, Duxford, Biggin Hill & Dunsfold aren't seaside shows.... the BBMF and Typhoon do more seaside events than the Blades. Maybe they will split the weekend with the RJF, who knows, but I don't consider t...

Re: Shoreham Airshow crash trial

Much work has been done post Shoreham to protect uninvolved third party and remove secondary crowd from the display area. All displays are producing display areas which are designed to prevent the repeat of this accident. 2018 was the hugely successful display season, in terms of crowd numbers. Shor...

Re: Reds to undertake US/Canada Tour

Make that tens of thousands of airshow attendees. Many multi-day seafront locations see their attendance figures heavily skewed to the day that the Reds display. After fine weather, the Red Arrows are the most popular air show participant, whether some people on this forum like it or not. "seas...

Re: The Scottish International Airshow (Ayr seafront) 2018

Its not a question of the most suitable venue, it is a question of who is going to pay for the event. From the newspaper clip it appears that Kirkcaldy have a waterfront development to promote. I would just be thankful that Scotland might be getting any kind of seafront air display next year, regard...

Re: Great Yarmouth cancelled

Free to view seaside shows rarely cover their costs - it's all about bringing in visitors and generating economic impact for the local area. Great Yarmouth quoted an economic impact of £10 million this year, which is very bullish. Other similar events hosting around 180,000 spectators would expect b...

18 jets confirmed so far and another 10 possible. Is that every flying classic jet in the UK that isn't a Hunter?

Is this a static event/fly-in event only? No displays?

Indeed, signs for the longevity of this show are not good. It will be a great shame to lose another airfield show.
It is possible that Biggin and Dunsfold may be lost in the same year, neither of which are related to any Shoreham fallout.

I"m genuinely intrigued by this, and always interested in "tips" from the continent. So, do the Romanians use a display line closer than 230m? Do they operate the 450m line for fast jet on-crowd vectors? A "thumping soundtrack"? Hmm, I guess that could go either way. What ti...
