Re: Edwards AFB Airshow 2022

SOFIA as mentioned did a couple of flypasts prior to the display and is now open ( with a big queue ) to go and have a nosey. Highlights so far a good airfield attack sequence with B1 ( nice roll at the end ) F22/35 and two F16’s along with a 135 and C17, 3 sonic booms, Some top Aeros from Rob Holla...

Small addition to the flying is Chuck Coleman in an extra 300. Apparently he was the guy that did the aero’s familiarisation for the Top Gun Maverick actors.

Re: Edwards AFB Airshow 2022

The local media are reporting a daily attendance of between 30k - 100k. Quite a range but also that the max capacity is 50k. i.e. if it's anywhere near the upper range there will be quite a few disappointed people. Get there early! Gates open at 08:30 but my guess is there'll be quite a queue waiti...

Re: Edwards AFB Airshow 2022

Who would have thought I would go to Edwards to see a Mig 29! BREAKING: The iconic MiG-29 will be flying at the 2022 #AvAirshow, October 15-16! This rare aircraft joins our already stacked lineup of modern fighter aircraft, heavies, bombers, and world-class civilian performers. Noice. Looking forwa...

Re: Edwards AFB Airshow 2022

By a strange quirk of fate I’m working in the Edwards area ;-) over the Airshow weekend. Having never been to Edwards can any of you advise what the traffic is like before the show, what time the flying normally starts/finishes etc and anything else that may be handy for an Edwards newbie?
Thanks all.

Thanks for the info gents. Was similarly looking for details which were few and far between for my local so this is perfect.
Just looking at the 24hr forecast for Brize tmrw up to 1pm they are going for scattered clouds at 2500’ with 10k+ viz so may not be too bad.

I apologise if this is in the wrong thread, but as we know every year the reds do a special flypast so I was thinking what are the chances of them doing a flypast with the 3 painted F-15's in the d-day marking as for me I think it would be pretty special. IF there was a special flypast I’d suggest ...

Have just had a quick nosey at the main models ( GFS, ICON, ECM etc ) and there is broad consensus for Friday. A spur from the Atlantic high pressure is sitting over the UK leading to a generally slack airflow with if anything a slight easterly drift. Pressure hovering around 1023. The result? A rea...
