LHS occupant seems to be seriously experienced, but the manoeuvre wasn't without risk (e.g. tailrotor strike or getting a skid caught in the foliage). Dead cool though. Smoking is no big deal - many of the aircraft I've flown are from the 60s and 70s and still have ashtrays!

I like the first shot - I tend to bin any shots with vehicles etc moving through the shot during slow exposure, but your shot really makes a feature of it.

2200 tonight (03/10/12) on Quest is "Sinking of an Aircraft Carrier" - about scuttling the USS Oriskany to create an artificial reef. As a Korean and Vietnam veteran there may be some interesting vintage footage.

It's been a long time since I've been to Southend, but clearly you can get closer than I remember. Good to see that the recent terminal and security changes haven't limited access too much either.

Definitely making the best of some great airside access. The Jet2 737 touchdown shot is excellent.
