Re: FIA 2020 Participants

Trade tickets are also now available at £37.00 + VAT....

The link that I originally posted is now broken - looks like it was restricted.

Re: HAF Open Days - Tatoi 08 & 09 November 2019.

Hi Tony,

I believe the Stuka is still in the restoration hangar - I was unable to gain access to that due to "health and safety" reasons.

HAF Open Days - Tatoi 08 & 09 November 2019.

The annual Greek AF open days gave an opportunity to take a closer look at the Air Force Museum storage area at Tatoi - normally off limits to museum visitors. Access to the restoration hangar was not possible (for "health and safety" reasons) but it was possible to view the stuff in outsi...

HAF Open Days - Tripolis - 8th November 2019.

As there are no operational aircraft at Tripolis, I have put this post here rather than with the rest of the base visits in Modern Military. As Tripolis was en-route between Kalamata and Elefsina it would have been rude not to stop. At the gate I was given a strict "no photography" instruc...

Re: Indian Air Force Museum, Delhi

Thanks Andy - that's a great set of a great collection. I am glad that not all the new exhibits have fallen foul of their previous policy of slapping silver over everything! There have been quite a few additions since my visit in 1989 so time for a re-visit I think!

Cheers,
Ralph.

HAF Open Days - Araxos and Andravida - 07th November 2019

The first two bases on my hit list, and conveniently close to each other. Araxos had a small static display consisting two F-16s in the accessible hangar with a further two outside, plus an F-104 and A-7 which are preserved on base. The F-104 had recently been repainted and they were still applying ...

HAF Open Days - Kalamata - 07th November 2019

With the venerable T-2s of the Greek Air Force reaching the end of service in the not too distant future, I took the opportunity presented by the open days held in honour of the patron saint of the air force to capture some whilst still operational. Kalamata has a certain reputation for restrictions...

Jessops in to Administration

A little heads-up for anybody in possession of Jessops vouchers or with kit with Jessops for servicing/repair - according to the BBC they may be calling in administrators.... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-50066623 Another high-street presence potentially biting the dust (again). Cheers, Ralph

Doughnut - there is no guarantee of "Display Flying" because there is a guarantee on "No Display Flying" - this is a fly-in/gathering, not an air show. The organisers have made it clear from the start that there will be no displays. There will be "normal operations" onl...

Of course you will pay (unless you blag a freebie from one of the exhibiting companies) - trade tickets in 2018 were £38.40 incl. VAT and booking fees.

Yes, in the "corporate" area - there is the Tempest, the strange Jet ranger drone "MQ-8C Firescout" plus another drone thing.

Great set Andy - love the gun case strapped to the struts of the Pa-18. But, by God, that Cessna 207 is ugly!

BAW Engineers new toy

Prototype A350-1000 turned up at Heathrow on Saturday and stayed overnight to give the British Airways engineers time to play with it in advance of the first BA one being delivered next month. For once, the weather played ball for its arrival. Cheers, Ralph https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/480308...
