Re: Duxford Diary 2020

A catch up on the ongoing Victor restoration in the conservation hanger, had a chat with Andrew in there and he tells me the paint is on order and we should soon see paint going on, it will be rolled on as was done in service apparently, the scheme chosen will be green / grey upper with white unders...

Re: Your favourite image from 2019

So I was walking the trade stands at RIAT 2019 and come across a lens and equipment outlet, they had a lens I had been considering for a good "show" price a Tamron 100-400, and on a moment of weakness I snapped it up, wandered back to the fenceline and ............................. https:/...

Buy a decent scanner like Nikon cool scan v or Plustec optic film 7400 or above and scan all your film and slide media, then sell the scanner, you should recoup most of what you paid , I actually sold my 2nd hand Coolscan that I brought new for several hundred pounds more than i paid for it thanks t...

I used to contribute in a small way to Duxford Dairy, but the site "upgrades" made it hard work, happy to see it on here, here's one of mine from Duxford this year; https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/48770029287_4281a91251_b.jpg Bearcat Maintainance by Mark Handley , on Flickr

Re: International Sanicole Airshow, 13 & 15 September 2019

On Saturday, you can visit the spottersday at Kleine-Brogel ( http://www.spottersday.be ) or explore the region. During the spottersday, you can see the departure and landing of planes that have to rehearse at Sanicole and some of the participants will taxy past the audience when they depart or ret...

Re: Duxford Air Festival 25th - 26th May 2019

Seems Duxford missed a trick with the D Day 75th, a woeful show by the looks of it.

Fortunately I'm off to Normandy for a week 1st -8th June to catch all the events over there including a visit booked to Caen airfield to see all the Dakotas there.

Re: Changes to Flickr Accounts

Yes, the fee isn't that bad, but clearly a lot of users are simply going to go find alternatives/stop using Flickr. For me and I know many others, Flickr has been so much more than just free photo storage. I've been asked for the use of my images via Flickr, I've made friends through Flickr, and ha...

Re: Changes to Flickr Accounts

Price rises over time, that is fine, it is the way of the world. However. Increasing fees 100% in one hit without adding anything substantive over and above your current service isn't. It is nothing short of a profiteering rip off. No it isn't, there's been no rise to my pro account ever, so in fac...

Re: Changes to Flickr Accounts

It's also a kick in the teeth for long term Pro account holders. I've held mine since 2012 - because I had it before Yahoo! put a 1TB cap on new Pro accounts - I already have unlimited storage and was allowed to keep it when they changed. I currently by $25 a year. So basically, they've just put up...

Re: Changes to Flickr Accounts

What's your point then? the point is its pay the fee or lose your images and your website functionality in a lot of cases. i'm not against paying for the service, but flickr is crap for anything other than photo storage. the free 1Tb of storage was why people went to flickr. no other reason So pay ...

I maybe getting old and grumpy, but, I’ve never really seen the point in having a fun fair at DX, nor a mobile pub!! No issues with loo’s here either. You’ve just gotta know where the ones that never get anyone queuing as people can’t be bothered to walk up a flight of stairs in Airspace! Not a lot...

Re: Duxford Battle of Britain Airshow 2018

I'd imagine, given the lack of numbers of F-35s in the UK, the fact that they need to start working up to deploy on to HMS QE, and the fact they've only been in the UK for a few months, that spending all that money and time on developing a display team and routine is not anywhere near the top of th...

Re: Duxford Battle of Britain Airshow 2018

I don't think flying fast along the runway and pulling up with some nice vapour really constitutes a "Display" ? do you? Thing is, we all paid to go to an Airshow, I can go to RAF Marham and see a flypast for free
