Re: Raptors Depart 08/05/2016 - Still 4 left for Monday!

Its a good job I am not a drama queen who throws his toys out of the pram. I could have walked to the forest entrance but chose to do something different and get some lift off shots with the airfield in the background and some jelly air. If I were just a happy snapper I would not have used full manu...

Raptors Depart 08/05/2016 - Still 4 left for Monday!

8 of the Raptors departed Lakenheath this morning. Still 4 left to depart Monday. Took my chances with the unfavourable light down on the farm wall. https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7250/26888652205_7cf90569ca_o.jpg aIMG_5046 by timothyholden , on Flickr https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7748/26795067722...

Golden Raptors

Bored of Raptors yet?? Me neither. Alas I could not get the week off so have been dashing off to Lakenheath and have been rewarded with some lovely golden light. Happy Days. Just wish they did a few circuits and afterburner pull ups. Had to resort to a bit of desperate cropping but not too grainy fo...

Heath & Hall 17/04/16 - Raptors and HMX1

Great to see so many familiar faces today. Worth the trip just for the social. A few interesting bits and bods to shoot though With Obamas's entourage and F22's in town it looks like the wrong time to be starting a new job. Thank God we had some weekend action. https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1625/25...

Coningsby Display Practice 05/04/16

With the BBMF and Typhoon doing multiple display practices this week it would be rude not to go and photograph them. Alas the cloud did not play ball. Did not get many displays in the sun. The wind got up and the BBMF scrubbed their mid afternoon display slots. Late in the day the Hurricane got up u...

Lakenheath: Burners, Bombs and Guardsmen

Great day at Lakenheath. Californian National Guard Eagles, bombed up LN birds, Burners, great company and a few mad March hares. https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1523/26193903621_3fe5795738_o.jpg aIMG_2087 by timothyholden , on Flickr https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1464/25657463233_b495c90f15_o.jpg a...

Mildenhall Day 2 (31 Mar 16)

Another cracking day at Mildenhall. Most of the C17's flew and a Super Galaxy was in and out. My first M model. Soo quiet! Heat haze was a real cow today though. https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1587/26062792602_0ea1bc27ea_b.jpg aIMG_1457 by timothyholden , on Flickr https://farm2.staticflickr.com/152...

High Seas Rescue

Had a non spotting holiday, a cruise round the Med. Unfortunately one of our fellow passengers was taken ill near Corsica. Luckily the French Airforce was on hand to winch him to safety and hospital. Alas the sun was not in the most favourable position. https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1568/2596842085...

Puma Town - Wattisham - UPDATED

Stopped by Wattisham after work but the visiting French Pumas and Gazelles stayed resolutely on the ground. Just after I left left a Vortex callsign called up so I U-turned and caught an RAF Puma in the amazing purple and orange sky. Suffice to say now its pitch black the French are flying around li...

ANG Eagles divert to Mildenhall 26 Sep 15

Cube Flight diverted into Mildenhall this afternoon. A Florida ANG and an Oregon ANG F15 Eagle. Typically the sun went in just as they arrived. Nice surprise. I was already happy with all the visiting KC135's and a KC10. https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5661/21110400694_523040513c_b.jpg aIMG_4123 by t...

Duxford Battle of Britain Airshow

Slightly subdued flying in light of recent events but the massed Spitfire formation at the end was unforgettable. The tailchase sequence as the formation broke up was just sublime. Brought a tear to the corner of my eye. https://farm1.staticflickr.com/760/20948029514_1d92c35d49_b.jpg aIMG_2611 by ti...

Raydon - Hardwick Warbirds event

Had a text from a friend that there was a small event at Raydon airfield. It was a private event for veterans and invited guests. Luckily a public road runs through the airfield giving an excellent position for photography. Maurice Hammond brought his full complement of aircraft. His Mustang "J...
