The only thing that I found that works (being in your shoes before) is modelstrip paint remover. It is about £4.99 and works very well!

I did get in on the first shoot; yes there were a few bits such as ladders etc. Not for the purists but you have to accept it was the first outing and they are learning. Tamiya Extra thin is definitely the way to go. Tamiya Cement is pretty good but I found it very similar to Revell Contacta.

Now we have the 1/144 going how about the starter kit GB. This would be a GB for all abilities. Choose a cheap kit like the Airfix Spit and no airbrushes, filler, sanding etc allowed, just what comes in the box. Would love to see how those of more experience would get on with the back to basics app...

I put a fire cracker/air bomb inside a 48 scale hellcat and lit the fuse. It made a Big Bang and never did find even half the plane after that!

I have the 300mm f/4 and a 1.4tc on my 5d3 and its superb. No image quality loss at all.
