Re: Oshkosh 2019.

Just back from my 6th and sadly last Oshkosh, feeling knacked but happy with months of photo editing ahead of me. Must say I'd heard tales of midges, especially at the Seaplane Base (what at beautiful spot!) but I was never bothered by them. Too many highlights to mention, just one of the greatest p...

Re: Which would give me better results

I'm not a Canon user either, but I would have thought that a Canon 70-200 f2.8 would be a very good quality lens. I use a Nikkor 80-200 f2.8 with a 1.4 convertor where necessary, and that is perfectly adequate for all but a few instances.

Re: Headcorn Air Show

However... standing in a queue for 40 mins to get in so someone can look at your ticket and give you a wrist band is absolutely down to the organisers . It was nothing short of shambolic. They need to talk to the people at Oshkosh. They use a wrist band system, getting in being quick and easy. Anyo...

Same here. Especially remember perhaps the last time I was there walking around taking photos with 'Sunshine on a Rainy Day' blasting out on the tannoy.

I have to wonder if she's really a very expensive white elephant. One well aimed surface skimming missile and it could be Goodnight Vienna.

They do look good in B and W, no doubt about it, but IMHO they'd look a lot better in colour. It is a marmite thing I know, but it's colour for me every time.

I suggest that you take a look at your current Shuttleworth calendar especially the shot of the Avro 504K, the landscape looks pretty much Fen like leve...

OK Andy. And I agree, that Slummelflzer (G-ZIRA) (think that's right!) is a rather strange looking machine.

Re: My take on the OW Military Pageant 7 July 2019

Very good, however can I just respectfully suggest that the first four would benefit from some levelling?

I was put off going by the generally poor weather forecast as Old Warden is quite some way for me living near the New Forest as I do, but then, you can't win them all!

Really like to go to this one. Was hoping to see the P-47D there last year, but a family 'naming' on the same day put paid to that. However current weather forecast doesn't look too good for Sunday.

Re: Writtle Duck Pond

Very nice one!

Most years we have a pair of mallards trying to set up home in our garden, and on our garden pond which is most unsuitable, and we reluctantly have to persuade them to move on. The pair this year were very persistent and kept coming back, but eventually they got the message.

I never put drinks in my camera bag after one leaked and ruined one of my camera bodies (thankfully insured) that was a painful lesson, admittedly a long time ago though.
