Re: Aviation- On This Day

2014, and Southport came up trumps again with some lovely light. The star of the show was without doubt the Lancaster duo. https://live.staticflickr.com/4404/36297036310_1469a0eec2_o.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/4341/36297035800_7ec3858524_o.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/4431/36522877262_01...

Re: Aviation- On This Day

Finningley 91 from me. A classic edition. Decent weather as you say Paul, but that always brought its own problems at Finningley. The Russian Knights were great to see, and although it seemed at the time their visit may not be a one-off that's how it has turned out to be. https://live.staticflickr.c...

Re: Aviation- On This Day

The Russian Knights arrived via a pass over Balmoral. On the show day they went to Finningley to display, where the Blue Angels were also based. Unfortunately Leuchars did not get to see the Blue Angels Indeed, as Paul says, the Blue Angels came over to Finningley the following year. The weather wa...

Very nice shot indeed. But my word, that scheme is hideous. Utterly tasteless.

Re: Sleap Aerobatic Competitions. 12th September, 2020

Lovely shots, was the Jungmeister competing or just visiting? Paintjob on the Anson looks temporary to me, it's wearing off already on the wing root fillets. Here's hoping the rest of it comes off ASAP, the 50's silver was much more attractive and accurate. The Jungmeister is based there I think. T...

Re: Aviation- On This Day

Many thanks for all the Finningley posts, somewhere I never got to😢 Andy Most of us have got one of those Andy. There were many shows, we couldn't do them all. I did two out of the four BoB shows; never got to either St Athan or Leuchars. The latter was on the same day as Finningley, and I lived mo...

Re: Aviation- On This Day

Good to see Finningley from the other side Paul,I really should have done that once or twice. Here's a handful from the 1988 show, which was yesterday, with my apologies for lateness. https://live.staticflickr.com/4461/23817809978_7df5ca4ec1_o.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/4478/23817810058_39467...

It is awful. I'm not sure what the motivation was. Its certainly a backward step from its last scheme.

I never did an arrivals day at Finningley. Annoyingly. Bit late to put that right now though :-) Southport, 2017: https://live.staticflickr.com/4440/37135595316_52714153d6_o.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/4350/37135595226_20a1358266_o.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/4415/37135595046_582b066f5d_...

Sleap Aerobatic Competitions. 12th September, 2020

I popped in to Sleap on Saturday, while the Golding-Barrett, Roy Legg and Duxford trophies were being contested. The flying elements of an aerobatic competition are a challenging watch, the 'box' being higher and somewhat further away than we're used to at airshows. However, each slot leads straight...

If anyone is allowed an opinion on BLM then surely it's Lewis Hamilton. Why, because his father was of African descent? His mother is White. He's benefited more than almost everyone from the social mobility afforded by our country. He actively avoids paying tax on his extraordinary earnings and has...

Re: Aviation- On This Day

Indeed, I was there too. What a year 1992 was, absolutely one-off selection of Soviet stuff. I remember it very very fondly. But, I would've loved to have seen the Yaks fly, and really should have done more than one day. I'll allow us one duplicate with Paul's shots, as him and I must have been stoo...

I still don't get what difference it will make if the limit was 30 people in a group and they were going ahead anyway with 13,070 more than that and its now 6. Surely a 24 person reduction among 14,000 is negliable to say the least... Will someone explain or am I missing the obvoius? There is no di...

I wouldn't have liked to pick a winner, some of them were just wow (cliché again) but I thought Gordon's looping in the dark surrounded by smoke and fire Apache was sensational. For it to be sharp is even wrong. Great thread. Yep I know. There are some ace images here. Pako could also have won with...

I was hoping that this topic would build a thread that conveys the spectacle of an airshow, and boy did you deliver folks. Dynamic, spectacular stuff. Cliche I know, but its a shame that I now have to single one out, because there are many great shots here at an outstanding standard. It was going to...

Re: Battle of Britain Airshow 2020 - 18th-20th September.

Just curious, and I must be missing something somewhere, but, how will todays new ruling regarding NMT 6 in a group instead of up to 30 affect Duxfords (IWM) decision to go ahead (or not) when they were going ahead anyway when the ruling was with 30...In the grand scheme of things how is 13,970 peo...
