Re: A-W Meteor NF.14 WS788 Restoration Project

Good work on the Models and the Rebecca Unit Blue. I’m looking for a set of all three levers that made up the “throttle Quadrant” - if you can call sliding levers a Quadrant, and I was wondering if you had any spare from your parts bin? I’d be happy to make a donation to ‘788’s kitty to help pay for...

Re: Newark Air Museum News 2020

Good choice on markings for the F-100D , and I’m all for a bit of nose art to brighten up the camo.
Will the nose Art be hand painted on, Howard, or will the museum commission a decal?

How is the museum and it’s staff coping financially, Howard, with the complete lock down and temporary closure?

I agree - an excellent post on a much missed Airshow performer.

From final take off at its home base to final touch down at the museum, I wonder how many other aircraft have such a poignant photographic record before entering preservation!

Great photos especially of the Saro.

As an aside the last tax disc on Ford Escort XR3 reg B521XNS expired on the 31st October 1990, so it’s either in storage somewhere or was scrapped!

Re: BCWM Jaguar.

Fantastic to see and as said a real milestone.

What with all the rumours of Bruntingthorpe no longer being able to run its resident historic jets, I wonder if Bentwaters would be able to take on some of the aircraft and their owners / groups?!

Question is - if they did enter UK airspace would we then shoot them down, as they would certainly do to us?

Re: Sea Vixen update

Considering the value of an airworthy Sea Vixen to both the flight and the Royal Navy - in terms of its Fleet Air Arm history and prominent place among Airshow ‘acts’, I wonder if they have considered the sale of other non airworthy airframes to help fund the Vixens restoration to flight? I for one ...

Re: Aircraft seen randomly at unexpected but most welcome ti

Circa 1992 and just a random day aircraft spotting up Grange road at the back of Duxford airfield, when from nowhere came the formation for the final RAF F-4 Phantom flypast - right over the top of the airfield. Sadly I didn’t have a camera with me but it certainly made my day. Early 2000’s and stoo...

Re: Duxford Diary 2020

What was once a fly in the ointment to the IWM’s Collection will soon become the jewel in the crown, and rightly so. I for one doubted that this would ever happen, fearing the worst as it slowly deteriorated outside, but I’m very happy to eat my words and instead heap praise on the IWM and its volun...

Re: Shorts Belfast at Cairns - Any News?

I have for now JC. Absolute shambles over there - although i hear its starting to improve. Getting back to the Belfast. If the euromillions Numbers come up, would a ferry flight back to the UK for preservation be feasible, or are the RR Tyne’s not permitted to operate in / over the UK anymore?! Rob

Re: Shorts Belfast at Cairns - Any News?

Thanks for the reply. IMO It should never of left the UK in the first place, but of course it went to whoever could afford to buy it and use it. But If it is cut up as you say, then that just leaves one complete example left - just one, the same as another giant RAF transport, the Blackburn Beverley...

I was just wondering if there were any developments regarding the Belfast sitting at Cairns in Australia? Last I heard was a possible engine run being planned / taking place.
