Completely agree with that and I look forward to this "enlightening" post later.

Re: Classic Air Force
I wasn't suggesting the people who donated to the Vulcan static "survival" should have clubbed together to save the Meteor. I was merely trying to put it into perspective. The Vulcan will always have more appeal even though it's grounded and off-limits, but arguably the Meteor is more hist...

Great shame. Lovely unique aircraft and great display too. Will be missed.
Have to agree that in the circumstances, you have to question the 100k that's gone into keeping a static Vulcan off limits to the public recently.

Re: Classic Air Force
There has been some confusion recently on our page in regards to our fundraising efforts. You may have seen two different JustGiving appeals - To be clear, we are fundraising to buy Vampire U1229. The old page was for JP Mk3 XM424, which has now been sold. The link to our current JustGiving page ca...

Re: an evening with former Lockhead SR-71 pilot
Why do they only state 80.000ft. Probably because it was the standard high-speed cruising altitude. In testing the F-104 and F-4 both exceeded 100,000ft each, albeit kinetically as the engines had long since flamed out. I would assume the Lightning was similar to that, but probably calling bingo fu...

Yes, but why are there two and both are asking for different amounts for the same thing? Don't you find that a bit suspect?

They now want De Havilland Vampire U-1229 (G-HATD). https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/UK-Heritage-Aviation-Trust Very suspicious that they have two different appeals and required totals (80k and 100k) for what appears to be the same thing. Here's the other one... https://www.justgiving.com/cr...

Facebook translation from Couteau Delta... D day... end of the countdown. The weather Lorraine wasn't allowed to match this day with our first practice bi-plane but with the third flight mono-plane. The preparation continues to try to match the level of ramex delta. Here's the crews who will have th...

Re: More F-35 woes...
The october one, is a good example of a 10p bit of lead sending that F16 home damaged, in my view he brought it down as it had had to drop its weapons and fuel tanks, and go home with damage, The 10p lead won. Given how many thousands, probably tens of thousands, of CAS sorties have been conducted ...

How many legacy platforms have been downed by said "10 pence bit of lead?"

Re: More F-35 woes...
This is a valid point - surely we should be looking to move on from the 20th century idea that the pilot has to be in the plane for the plane to do its job. Originally there was no alternative but now with virtual reality etc can the pilot not be sat in a control room hundreds or even thousands of ...

15.1 ratio or 20.1, some conflicting figures. Agree the A10 in the CAS roll is hard to beat, look how many hits they have encountered from small arms fire. F35 is an expensive bit of kit to be downed by a 10pence bit of lead from a lucky shot from mr AK47. Not sure hoe they patch up holes in tye F3...

Re: More F-35 woes...
If an F-35 can't swat a 40 year old opponent from the sky I would be seriously worried. I'm sure a Tornado F.3 can put up a decent fight against a Vampire F.1...! Not a very good comparison really. The F-16 has been continuously upgraded and is still a very capable platform. Don't underestimate the...

I remember the Austrian Draken display at Air Fete 2000 (I think?). Don't think the pilot turned off the afterburner for the whole display other than to land. Marvellous.

Re: Catch the Polish Mig-29's and Su-22's while you can!
Surprising, at least with the MiG-29's. You can bet politics is playing a big hand in things, with the current tension between Poland and Russia. If things did escalate it would be easy for the Russia to impose sanctions on Poland which could eventually ground their Russian built aircraft fleet - yo...

Things over the last 2.5 years have changed somewhat for me. However, the last 12 months have been particularly exciting. Alan Kenny kindly approached me to do a Q&A and you can read it here - https://turnnburnaviation.com/2017/02/20/mover/ Thanks to the Squadron for their backing and the Brize ...

Tremendous news if true. Ramex Delta were one of my favourite display acts, so if they can emulate them, brilliant.
