Hello again,
Just like buses.....
First right off Tico Road is the Valiant Air Commands Warbird Museum. When i saw what was here, there was no way i was going to miss it, especially as it was less than a minute from the road to KSC. As i approached from the southwest, i noticed 2 large warbirds flying around and the old aircraft reccie didnt let me down with a Mitchell and Dakota confirmed as we arrived at the museum. Both were missed by the camera as the Dak went flying and the Mitchell was crowded out by a group visit going on.
Big US Navy theme here so i certainly was not gonna be disappointed but the Army and Air Force are also well represented!
Gate Guards OV-1
and MiG-21U
Main Hangar UH-19D
CT-133 as a T-33
Between main display hangars and the 3rd SNJ of the holiday.
and second Thud.
second hangar contained this and a TA-4
plus many other USN stuff that was a bit packed! I did catch an OV-10G
the better of 2 Trojans
UN-1V
outside again was a new Canberra for me
dont like em but this was a nice replica
strange shape modifying F-5E
and Voodoo which also had a new F-100A exhibit nearby.
in the restoration hangar was a future gem in F-11A Tiger
Now i had to check this one as it looked quite familiar. Way, way back at a Leuchars AS, 2 F-14A jumped off a carrier. One was a VF-41 machine just like this one but thankfully not the same one!
Now, over the other side is an aircraft with a shady history in the shape of this C-123.
Then it was on to Kennedy with this T-38 preserved on a pole.
Comments as always very welcome.
Arabest,
Geoff.

Great set, those exhibits are to die for, especially the Thunderchief, Tomcat and Bronco! Seeing that C-123 reminds me of Con Air, think I can see John Malkovich peering out over the fence!

Excellent museum.
I wondered where that F-5 had gone when it wasn't at Dryden the year I visited.
It was modified to research the effect of shape on the sonic boom with the intention and making the boom quieter. Improving stealth but also potentially allowing supersonic airliners to be more prevalent.

The F-5 was indeed modified for quieter sonic booms,
The Blue / Red lines on the side of the fuselage show the sound pressure was, the red line shows pre modification and the blue show post modification, note the lack of a sharp peak.
I was a tour guide for the museum
