A crime that both Mustangs are so seldom seen.

Janie is the finest example in Europe, for me.

They are both flown fairly regularly.

I share your view regarding Jane. ...

Hi Alex...I'm pretty certain its a wooden wonder but I know someone will confirm it, who knows better, sometime soon..

Thanks. Still waiting for someone 'who knows better'! Think I've seen some Mustangs in the States with similar masts? BTW, both have radar warning devices in the tail.

Having seen Marinell's up-close on Sunday, that's definitely wooden. I think Janie's is too. Whether they were wooden in service, I don't know.

A post on WIX may assist:

Possibly made by a different contractor or are the marked with a dash and a letter after the AN104? AN104-A?
The P-51 AN104 was a hardwood teardrop cross section that tapered to a point. The upper 18" or so was clad with copper sheet and painted silver.
There wasn't any part made from Alum.
I believe I have seen pics of a version that was all metal, not wood based. Might have been a Naval version? So I believe there was a couple different versions.
