Vulcan XM655 - Wellesbourne

Post by pootle »

I was fortunate enough to receive some TLE vouchers for a recent birthday and started using them this weekend by attending the afternoon and night shoot with the Vulcan at Wellesbourne Airfield. I know night shoots aren't everyones cup of tea (price, staging, subject matter, etc.) but this was a really well run event, supported incredibly well by the preservation team and supplemented by some great re-enactors.
I wanted to try and capture some images in a slightly retro style as my uncle flew Vulcans from 1961 through to 1965 and after his passing this year I've had the chance to read through his logbooks which are fascinating. I've not completed the editing yet and only tried a couple in the retro style but thought some may enjoy these.

They really are superb. I'm not a fan of the guy with his visor down in front of the aircraft but thats just personal opinion. The really are great photos.

7130 reminds me of the yellow tinge I often used to get when using Orwochrome slide film (does anyone else remember that ?) in the late 70's when I couldn't afford Kodachrome or Fuji slide film...the skin tones used to make people look like they had jaundice !....I went off it very quickly !
