Duxford Diary 2020
Re: Duxford Diary 2020
Yes, G-THUN did a display practice and other activity, in addition to those illustrated, above, included: Mustang G-BIXL, Fury G-CBEL, Cosmic Wind G-ARUL and Jungmann G-BSAJ.

Duxford activity today ( from my garden not to far away ) saw Spitfires PL983 and PV202 flying as a pair.

It does look a little out of place next to beautiful 'L'... - but I wouldn't say no to the offer of a ride!
Thanks for sharing all these lovely images, glad to see things have come back to life at Duxford!

Re: Duxford Diary 2020
It always seems a shame to see it flying with the rear cockpit empty.
Re: Duxford Diary 2020
Hi all
Those two Spitfires flew fairly low over my house, west to east at 14.20 20 or so miles east of Duxford.
And I think another just flew by a couple of miles away going north west.
It is great to see some warbird activity, particularly from Duxford while we can't visit. Also to get confirmation from the forum of what is flying!

Ugly - for any angle and any configuration.
same for 109's and that Hurricane.
Must be nice to fly in but certainly not to look at!

Re: Duxford Diary 2020
The Grace/Melton canopy is far more easy on the eye than the Vickers. More like sitting in the front cockpit rather than in your conservatory. I've flown in both.
The Hurricane two seater BE505 is a very sympathetic conversion IMHO. The extra length to the canopy is not obvious at first glance. I suspect it will be a very busy Hurricane once normal life returns...
At least the two seat Bf109 G-12 served in the Luftwaffe, unlike the Spitfire T9 which only served post war in other air forces...

A nice tribute this evening to the NHS with Spitfire PL983 flying around the local villages with suitably adorned titling and returning to Duxford just as the sun was setting .

Re: Duxford Diary 2020
The last photo is beautiful Duxman, thanks for posting.
Re: Duxford Diary 2020
Surely not from the naughty field - the penultimate one has me itching to get my red t-shirt back on and back to volunteering there.

Re: Duxford Diary 2020
That message on the bottom of the Spitfire is a really thoughtful message - obviously done purely out of gratitude. Well done to the owner operators.

Managed to catch PL983 and TD248 heading north this afternoon transiting over St.Ives...

Re: Duxford Diary 2020
It's a great idea to show that message on a Spitfire. Reminds me of the 'Yippee!' P-38.

Re: Duxford Diary 2020
Do you mean the transfer? Sorry but I don’t speak American.
Re: Duxford Diary 2020
There is of course a chance that it was not exactly straight on the original airframe, and this was faithfully reproduced. Does anyone have reference photos?
