Duxford Saturday 21st August:

Lancaster PA474 is now parked in Airspace and looking very much at home. No news on a departure date !

Of course, Airspace is home to Canadian built Lancaster KB889, but I struggled to get them in the same frame !

Gotta say PA474 looks really good, not seen her since 2014 at Prestwick with Vera from Canada, Would be great to see her alongside the IWM Duxford Lancaster. The guys at Duxford have done a good job as usual.

Just a shame both Lanc's can't be next to each other.

Come night time and the lights are dimmed, the squeaking of old rubber and creaking of long dormant airframes, KB889 and XJ824 touch wingtips and PA474 stretches through the open door to tip bump its stablemates...
Underneath my gruff exterior is an even gruffer interior...

Superb pictures! I think she may be off tomorrow, or at least a test flight. Will be there for opening time.

Looks like they may still have a problem with fluid leaking (possibly oil) from both inner engines, especially the port inner, given the stained large white 'towels' spread over the top of the main undercarriage tyres?

It's just marking its territory... or was that just for radials?

Great photos of PA474 and yes, seeing it next to KB889 would certainly be nice.

Nothing doing today. She is waiting for "paperwork" to be completed. Back again tomorrow.

And pray, what has poor MW186 done to be left out of this? You can just see the tip of the port outer rudder in that shot too. :)

The Pitts was standing in for Beaver G-DHCZ. They were practising for Saturday's Flying Evening.
