Duxford Wednesday 8th September:

Lancaster PA474 was ousted from Airspace for a car auction today. Looking good in the sunshine and expected to leave at the weekend:

Is there any information regarding what the future holds for the Walrus?

Heard it was being restored to fly but then perhaps brought by the IWM, perhaps to be placed on HMS Belfast. Does anyone have anymore information on it?

It's owned by Tom Harris. I very much doubt IWM would purchase it for display on the Belfast. Especially being partially fabric covered. Then again it's the IWM....

Duxford Friday 10th September:

A busy day (despite some heavy rain) with plenty of warbird activity.
Departing for a weekend at Melun were Buchon G-AWHH 'White 9' (with the other three 'Ultimate Fighters') and Catalina 'Miss Pick Up', while B-17G 'Sally B' went to Abingdon:

Spitfires PV202 and PT462 were busy with rides, and Buchon 'Yellow 10' and Spitfires N3200 and 'WZ-RR' flew practice displays:

Curtiss P-36C 'PA-50' and Lysander V9312 were seen on maintenance:

Duxford Saturday 11th September (Part 1) :
The BBMF Lancaster finally departed back to Coningsby this afternoon. After a test flight, cut short by a faulty oil pressure gauge, she was airborne again just before 1700. She was noted landing at base with one prop feathered.

By chance, a close encounter with the UK's other 'heavy'

Thanks to all photographers for keeping me updated on what's going on at Duxford in my enforced absence. Particularly on the BBMF Lancaster.
Hopefully I'll be back soon.

A couple from me - popped in to DX to do some 'admin' and timed my visit just right with departures to Goodwood.

Mk I 'scramble' was appropriate for the date.

Sea Fury T.20/G-INVN accident report.
Summary:
During the aircraft’s second flight following maintenance, its engine oil temperature rose and the oil pressure started to fluctuate. The engine then seized, forcing the pilot to make a landing in a field. The aircraft was extensively damaged and both occupants suffered serious injuries.

Examination of the engine revealed extensive internal damage which resulted from the failure of a main engine bearing. The cause of the bearing failure could not be identified but the investigation determined that contamination of the oil system was the most likely cause.
