Cyprus operates Hinds, yes.
Yes, 11 airframes. An article in 2021 suggests that they may be upgraded or alternatively replaced, as they have suffered from a lack of spares.

Poland and Bulgaria are the only two operators that have been previous RIAT participants. Bulgaria are operating a fleet of around 4 airframes. Poland appears to have a much larger fleet of around 25, but is negotiating with the US for a Western replacement.

It could easily be the last opportunity to see one airborne in the UK.

Edit: Plus India and Pakistan, but that would be a long shot!!

And Brazil, Algeria, Ukraine, USA but lets be honest we're not seeing any of those either.

I just knew I hadn't looked at the list long enough! I had spotted the US and dismissed it as a technical anomaly, but forgot the obvious Ukraine and Russia too.

This is N118NX and on paper is owned by MI-24 #118 LLC but is operated by Cold War Air Museum out of Lancaster, TX. A rather interesting mix of former Eastern Bloc aircraft there!

With the return of a larger USAF presence at Fairford, I wonder if they will ever re-introduce the famous BBQ area within the P&V enclosure. ‘Wet’Burgers and Mountain Dew by 0900, lovely! Fond memories.

IIRC the issue was never the USAF it was the local authorities.

Just thought I'd say 'ONLY TWO WEEKS TO GO!!'.

Until arrivals start anyway.

I have to admit, I'm more excited about this year than previous - perhaps it's the two year break.

Biden just announced two new F35 squadrons for UK to strengthen NATO posture in Europe.... Maybe RIAT can get one to display? 😀

Only kidding

I thought the show two years ago was dreadful to be honest.

Oh I dunno, the queues for the toilets were shorter.

People have short memories! Didn't need my umbrella at all, didn't pay through the nose for a hot dog and for once, no unsuspecting five year old was bashed on the head by a 600mm prime hung from the shoulder of some enthusiast walking the static. It's the little things.

There's a lesson there; you've got to look after those lenses but at least the 5yo is a soft-ish impact.

The key with the toilets is to have a 'bran flakes with raisins' breakfast so by the time you get through RIAT security, you're ready to let loose. You can then spend the rest of the day not worrying about queues so much.
