Re: Fort Lauderdale
Nice, was there in October but didn't see too many special schemes like you did. So spoilt for choice for viewing plus we had a view of departures from our pool. The Bahamas ATR's eluded us the 4 days we were around. The Azul E195 is a long way from home, only saw their A330 and A320N. Did get a couple of ever diminishing Delta MD-88's. Great airport with a good selection of traffic.

Re: Fort Lauderdale
Not much of a guide really, but you have so many places to use, Hibiscus Garage is the number one slot, as you are between runways, Gardner is the official viewing area, but its been closed due to the 10L/28R resurface work, I believe its due to reopen shortly, if it has not already. The park in Griffin Road is ideal as it is raised so its easily to take photos without the fence being in the foreground. Hotels literally hundreds all around the airport.
BSO (Broward Sheriff Office) have a great attitude and accept photographers as part of the airport, however they do not appreciate People being underneath the direct approach of the aircraft (signs up saying no stopping, no standing etc) but if that's your bag simply cross the I95 into Ravenswood road and you can get head on shots without any problem and plenty of parking for your vehicle. I use my bike everyday as it costs nothing to use the parking garage (3 USD per hour for vehicles).
Happy snapping
