Stunning...

It's an impressive sight at Kemble now, with the British Airways jumbos lined up along the perimeter road...

Re: Another One Bites the Dust [747 Retirement]
I've seen reports that the last two BA 747's are due to leave Heathrow this week, on Thursday 8th October, which includes the retro Negus scheme 747 G-CIVB.
Rumour is the two aircraft operating the final British Airways 747 departures from Heathrow will do so simultaneously from parallel runways.
They will then perform a flypast of the airport, before heading off to Kemble.
The plan is subject to weather, and may be pushed back to Friday 9th October if necessary, and exact times are not yet known.
Anyone else heard anything about this....?

7am Thursday morning is the plan I believe. Shame it's not 7.47am. Or indeed, at any point after sunrise...
Re: Another One Bites the Dust [747 Retirement]
Seriously....!!
They clearly don't want people to gather to watch it then.......
Shame, as I was there by the fence 50 years ago to see the first BOAC one arrive.....and would have liked to have been there to see the last one leave 50 years later.
Re: Another One Bites the Dust [747 Retirement]
Latest I've heard is departure is 07:40, so likely the farewell flypast over LHR will be 07:47.

Re: Another One Bites the Dust [747 Retirement]
I'm tempted to make the long drive town to Kemble instead of heading to LHR.
Does anyone have any tips? We popped there at the weekend so no the gate / fence line etc. I would ideally like to get a shot of her rolling down the runway as I suspect there should be a nice amount of water on the ground.

Weather and vis looking better for Kemble on Friday than Thursday, at the moment, given it has to be VFR into Kemble.
Re: Another One Bites the Dust [747 Retirement]
I was at LHR two weeks ago and thought there were four 747's left. What has happened to the penultimate pair? Also, is Kemble confirmed as the destination?

Today's arrival...

Still can't believe the sun made an appearance through the clouds & clag meaning I had to shoot the arrival backlit.

Coped with it quite well though - I love the processing on the first one.

I actually really like the first one, pal. A sort of ethereal feel to it.
