Re: Duxford Flying Finale Saturday 8th October
One issue highlighted by that tragic accident was the incredibly low number of recent flying hours that, at the time at least, qualified him to fly a fast jet at a public display.
I don't know if the regulations have changed since? If they have it would significantly increase the costs of operating anything like the Gnat display, quite possibly making it unviable.

The shows in 2 and a half weeks and nothing.
How can you expect punters to take the plunge and buy a ticket?

I am guessing the 10 days mourning of the Queen affected them updating the website and were waiting on it to end before starting promotion.
I would expect something by Friday

I am hoping for a shuttle bus, but I guess it will be a taxi to/from Whittlesford. Maybe a walk if its a nice day

part of me has this sinking feeling that they had big plans but we will have paid 30 quid for a spitfire, buchon, the catalina and the cosmic wind
either that or they have something huge and are just crossing the t's and dotting the i's

That’s a decent little line up there. It’s surprising to see the Typhoon out so late in the season.

Lovely line up, surprised not to see Sally B or the Blenhiem but some great displays on show.
Really looking forward to it.

Sally B posted last week that the BoB airshow was their last one of the season.jasonT1981 wrote: ↑Tue 20 Sep 2022, 10:05 pmLovely line up, surprised not to see Sally B or the Blenhiem but some great displays on show.

Superb line up.
Seven afterburning fast jets in the line up isn't bad for an October afternoon.
Edit - anyone know where Patruille Suisse are operating from?

that's a good little line up. Nice to see some jet action
Re: Duxford Flying Finale Saturday 8th October
Would explain why the DR1 Triplane was up very late in the day on Tuesday.
Re: Duxford Flying Finale Saturday 8th October
Looks a good line up, I've gone for a ticket, was really hoping the Blenheim would be there as I haven't seen it in forever but it's still a great list.

Flying day capped to 6500 visitors. The disabled in visitor centre car park everyone else Northside . It's nearly sold out.
Re: Duxford Flying Finale Saturday 8th October
Sounds like this is information from last year. The October event is an "airshow" rather than "flying day" isn't it?
Re: Duxford Flying Finale Saturday 8th October
That is causing me to think very carefully as to whether to cancel my booking. At 75 years of age I am not legally classified as disabled but do have mobility issues and the trek from Northside to the crowdline while carrying/dragging everything required for the day (especially considering that this will occur in October with the possible weather problems) could well make the day not worth the effort even with the admittedly excellent participation list (in respect of which I refer readers to my signature below). I also noted that the "disabled" car park near the American Air Museum was far from full at the Battle of Britain show, despite a greater number of tickets having been issued than are available for this event.Pen Pusher wrote: ↑Thu 22 Sep 2022, 8:31 amPosted on Duxford Air Shows Facebook by Mike who runs the shop -Michael Peirson

I am quite sure that I would not be the only prospective attendee with this viewpoint.
nothing is confirmed at a show until its u/c hits the tarmac or it is running in for its display.....
Re: Duxford Flying Finale Saturday 8th October
As it says flying day - is this just for the last flying day of the season as the Flying finale is classed as an airshow not one of the flying days??phreakf4 wrote: ↑Thu 22 Sep 2022, 10:13 amThat is causing me to think very carefully as to whether to cancel my booking. Rail unions have called a strike for the 8th October if any one was thinking of getting to Duxford by train via Whittlesford Parkway, like I was.

Crap, I'm screwed now. I was staying at Stansted Airport, unless things change not really worth going now as it will be almost impossible to get to Duxford.

Saturday 8 October
This is a national strike day. Please avoid travelling with us. Our service will be heavily reduced and disrupted. And, most routes will not have trains or bus replacements for them.
Our revised timetable should be available 2-3 days before the strike disruption. This means the journey planner is currently showing incorrect train times.
It's likely we'll be running no services between Cambridge and London Liverpool Street or on our regional/branch lines. We expect to operate a heavily reduced service between London Liverpool Street and Norwich, Colchester, Southend Victoria. Stansted Express service will also likely to continue running between Stansted Airport and London Liverpool Street.
