Re: AIRPOWER22 - Zeltweg, Austria
European Airshows might be hyping this up too much. The only thing that would actaully blow my mind is something I would not expect to see at RIAT. With B-52s currently in the UK, F-22 in Poland and EA-18G at Łask I would put my money on one of those to appear. Maybe even something from Asia?AIRPOWER is going to be HUGE this year! Keep an eye on their website for some absolutely mind blowing last minute additions…
But for now enjoy this great shot by the Aviation PhotoCrew of the US Navy Boeing P-8 Poseidon approaching Zeltweg for the 2019 show, who knows maybe Americans will send something even more interesting this year

Well, the Croatian authorities haven't confirmed it to journalists and the Serbian government have refuted the claim they're sending anything at all.Tommy wrote: ↑Fri 05 Aug 2022, 8:41 amSlightly more on topic, I have seen a few comments in various mediums saying we should probably be a bit skeptical about the Croatian MiG.
The usual rule of “it’s not confirmed until wheels on the tarmac” applies with more than the usual strength to that one.
Still, I’ve got everything crossed.

Good? That unironically makes me happy. Mission 100% accomplished.

Re: AIRPOWER22 - Zeltweg, Austria
I’ve managed to get these dates off work, and have booked a place in Vienna.
Anyone travelled in by train before? What’s it like? Easy as?

Re: AIRPOWER22 - Zeltweg, Austria
I did it by train in 2016, but from Graz rather than Vienna - it's a 2hr+ train journey as I recall from Vienna to Bruck an der Mur (where I think you'd have to change trains...) & then another 30-45mins from there to Zeltweg. Train station in Zeltweg is only a short walk from the base though, so that bit is easy. Getting away at the end is very busy at the station!
Re: AIRPOWER22 - Zeltweg, Austria
According to the website the train journey is direct on the way there!
But on the way back from what I understand is I have to get a train to Knittlefield then to Vienna?
Just a little anxious of not missing a train and being stuck in the middle of no where!

Re: AIRPOWER22 - Zeltweg, Austria
I remember I used the OBB official website to plan my rail journeys when I went (Had to go from Vienna Airport to Graz initially as I was staying there, then from Graz to Zeltweg each show day) https://www.oebb.at/en/
To be honest the schedule was kind of irrelevant for the return journeys to Graz for me, as there was so many people they'd laid on extra trains and carriages & they just stopped at every station in the local area.

What's the Austrian equivalent of April Fool's Day? - this line up gradually gets more ridiculous - really? A Y-20!
A few did visit Serbia a couple of months ago to drop off some equipment.

It is mentioned on the official Bundeswehr facebook page.

First Austria is a (military) neutral country.
By the looks of it the Austrians are looking for a replacements for their Herks as all of a sudden C295 C390 and Y20 are added tot the static (first two civil)
And apart from some specials aircraft from neighbouring countries like the Croatian MiG21 and the Serbian Mi17 and trainer and now the Y-20 . It is all quiet standard with a lot of civil stuff.

Re: AIRPOWER22 - Zeltweg, Austria
If we're lucky then, the Austrians might purchase the Y-20 and we can have it as a regular visitor here in the UK (it would certainly add more variety seeing as (as much as I like the type) there are a lot of C295 around and the C-390 seems to be doing well in Europe too).Canberra TT.18 wrote: ↑Wed 24 Aug 2022, 3:52 pmProfessor_M wrote: ↑Wed 24 Aug 2022, 3:32 pmWhat's the Austrian equivalent of April Fool's Day? - this line up gradually gets more ridiculous - really? Re: AIRPOWER22 - Zeltweg, Austria
Another scan of the participation list and a couple of things I've not noticed before. They could have been there for ages though!
Turkey has been added to the list of F-16 operators for 'Flying & Static' and there is an Italian AW169M too. Added to the static park are an An-2, Hurricane, L-39NG, Fw 44 and Nord 1002.
The German P-3C seems to have cancelled.

Re: AIRPOWER22 - Zeltweg, Austria
It’s difficult to keep track - I think the Italian 169 has been on for a while, but I think the Turkish F-16 (lumped in with Polish, Netherlands, and non-Zeus Greek, so assume it’s static rather that SoloTurk - hoping for an operational example!) is new.

Re: AIRPOWER22 - Zeltweg, Austria
Such a shame for me that this show is Friday/Saturday. I could have done a Sunday but alas, not this year.
Line-up looks cracking but they could do with sorting that website out! Looking forward to seeing the pics that come out of the weekend.

the Polish, Turkish, Greek and Netherlands F-16's are the D model. I got told by a local there will be some sort of fly-by but I cant imagine the Greek and Turkish doing that together due to the ongoing political situation. OFC theres also the Zeus and Belgium Viper F-16 solo demos.

Re: AIRPOWER22 - Zeltweg, Austria
Ah shame - was hoping for one of those Polish/Turkish monstrosities with the CFTs and dorsal spines.

Re: AIRPOWER22 - Zeltweg, Austria
The Polish F-16D's are Block 52 version - they have both CFTs and dorsal spines.
Re: AIRPOWER22 - Zeltweg, Austria
Considering the Dutch don’t have F-16D (and coincidently have retired all their F-16BM) I think it’ll be a mix of single and twin sticks from the various nations sending Vipers to the show. Let’s be honest, the website list isn’t the clearest, so I’m trying to not read too much into it and looking forward to some surprises on arrivals day next week.bobby 1211 wrote: ↑Thu 25 Aug 2022, 8:55 amthe Polish, Turkish, Greek and Netherlands F-16's are the D model.

Apols, misread “D” for “C”.bobby 1211 wrote: ↑Thu 25 Aug 2022, 9:08 amThe Polish F-16D's are Block 52 version - they have both CFTs and dorsal spines.
