The weather forecast is just getting better and better.

I almost can't wait to get to Duxford

Will be there from Friday to Monday.

Will be volunteering with our cadet squadron on the flight line walk again this year and we have been told to expect 51 aircraft on the flight line.

I dare say everybody's favourite Frenchman Bernard Chabbert will be there.

So many people can't stand him, but to be fair he is part of the legends experience for me. As long as he doesn't say the French won the battle of Britain.....

He's alright in small doses, in fact sometimes he can be quite funny especially when he's on his usual wife/concorde rant!

Stirling job you chaps do, and in the past quite considerate moving a few steps to the left and the right even when a few are being a bit shirty with you for stopping them walking past.

It's been reported on the Key Forum that the Red Bull P-38 only made it as far as Sumburgh in the Shetland Isles yesterday, flying from its last air show appearance in Norway I think it was, and was grounded due to the weather.

Unfortunately I can't get to Duxford today as I have to wander around getting signatures for my get out of Wyton/Civil Service/MOD chit signed. :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

Before any one asks, the P-38 is arriving early for a bit of routine maintenance so wont be flying til the end of the week.

The American penchant for polishing aluminium to a mirror finish just looks dreadful. While I'm not saying that I won't be going to Duxford, for that depends on the weather far more than the rarity aeroplanes being exhibited, I certainly wouldn't go specifically to see this awful apparition!

Personally I love a chrome aircraft, don't see enough of them, especially on a blue sky sunny day. Lovely stuff.

Just be lucky you can see a P-38 in Europe. That's how I see it!

Not a huge fan of highly polished chrome either, especially on many of the US based Mustangs (and BBD at last years show too, actually). Prefer the natural metal look, as worn by Twilight Tear/Fragile but Agile and Jumpin' Jacques.

P-38 is still great to see though, enjoyed it last year.

Regarding the weather, the BBC weekly forecast on Countryfile suggested it's likely to be very wet and windy this weekend. :-X

Polished chrome looks brilliant on american fighters only  Don't trust the BBC this website shows saturday as sunny/cloudy all day http://www.xcweather.co.uk/forecast/Duxford

Im a bit confused with the participation list on the IWM site, it doesnt suggest the AC listed on here will be flying i.e Nimrod, P-51's, Swordfish etc. Which is correct or is it simply the IWM one is incomplete to leave us guessing?

The IWM list is incomplete. The full participant listing is released only a few days before or on the day of the show.

Wonder (with the flying bulls corsair being absent) if they will send another aircraft instead?
