Not too bad here at Carpiquet either, v overcast but no wind and at least it’s not raining.
Posting comments on an aviation-related chatroom, are ya? Looks like it an' all...

Unfortunately rather hopeless.
Leaving Duxford and the Daks to watch the Red Arrows, now obsessing over Trump!

There is so much to be proud of re the 75th events and I think the Daks Over Normandy team have created memories that will last a long time.

But the BBC coverage has been shambolic. What a shame.

Usually a massive critic of Dux, but today (I came via train) was fantastic. Hats off to all those involved.

Only thing that I thought was missing was a mass Dc-3 flypast, which was quite disappointing.

USAF flypast was spectacular

Unfortunately, over two hours late over Maidstone, but at least they arrived, and it was an excellent spectacle. I did notice that as they flew over Maidstone there seemed to be an incursion into the formation by a small single engined aircraft (Piper type), this was 'pounced' upon by the two Mustangs and shepherded away, don't know what happened to them as I was more interested in the Dakota's and their escorts of Harvards and C45s. As I said, a never to be forgotten day. Robin.

Watching the live stream above. Wow. Just wow. Quite a sight and quite moving.
Just a shame about the absolutely dreadful commentary!

Bizarre that we have to resort to amateur for such a historic event. I agree they were a bit irritating, but at least they did it.

A moving event.

Passed over Eastbourne after 1700,great sight never to see that many Daks in UK again.
More to watch it than are there for Airbourne.
Well done to all involved for getting such a great event both in the States and those in the UK and Europe.

21 of the 23 departed in the end.

LN-WND which had the double engine failure yesterday was still unservicable - port engine sorted but still problems with the starboard one, they were working on it most of the day.

and N103NA Flabob Express had a problem with port engine on start up, they were test running it when I left at 17.40.

Hope they get both sorted in time for their teams to get over to Normandy to take part after all their efforts in getting here

The mass departure was even later than that - around 4.00 - NOTAM or no NOTAM!

I had no problem getting in from the M11 at around 9.15 and was on the airfield before 9.30. However, getting out...was a complete disaster. Totally shambolic. I sat in the car two yards from where I'd been parked and didn't move for 55 mins. Farcical. Not a "traffic marshall" to be seen. Just what are we paying £5 a car for?

Apart from getting out, a good day. I guess they can't help the extended delay to the Daks departure, if as was said, this was due to a "VVIP" being late!

Was a great sight today and well done to daks over Normandy only problem for me was the car parks and the traffic management but that IWMand should detract from what DaksoverNormandy have achieved.

We got in from the M11 end, and was parked by the Land Warfare hall.

We left before the Mustangs departed to join the formation, and got out in under 15 mins.

We did have to do a long roundabout route back down the A10 though.

Despite my somewhat sceptical comments regarding the organisation and communication about this event I was pleasantly surprised and had a fantastic 2 days myself and had no problem getting in or out. Admittedly we did hang around at the car in the north car park today with a cup of tea and sandwich before departing at about half five but then drove straight out with only small 10 minute problem being where that country lane meets the A505 at Barley. Of course any event held midweek is going to cause problems on the roads but not everyone had some, and, as for the delay and whinging about getting them all airborne on time does it really matter because it did happen in the end albeit a little later than billed and at the end of the day I don't think we'll ever see an event like it again (even in 5 years time) so come on lighten up and appreciate what you got.

Did they not do it today? They did it yesterday, though it was only for a few hours - once those aircraft went flying and parked up again it looks like they didn't reopen it.

I really enjoyed the last couple of days despite the weather and missing aircraft. Well done to all those involved.

Thanks also to those at Duxford today for keeping everyone who was waiting along the route updated.

Does anyone know when the US aircraft are planning to return to the UK? I heard a rumour that they might return, or some of them anyway, to Old Warden as they were treated so well there. Would be nice to go see them there as I couldn't make last weekends Airshow.
