Are the reds closing the show today or tomorrow, as there tomorrow and don't mind leaving before them!

Many thanks

Dave nearly did a bit of hovering. Called it a day after that and heading home cold and dam.

Up to when I left at 3.30pm, everything on the programme including Shuttle worth aircraft flying in the rain had flown but the Mig didn't fly with the P-51s. Worth the wet and cold for the Buchon/Yak tailchase with pyrotechnics.

I'm afraid I found it a cold, wet, crowded and miserable experience!

Obviously the weather wasn't IWM's fault but it was far too full in my opinion. One of the security supervisors told me 27000 tickets had been sold for each day. Presumably a few of those stayed away due to the weather but the car park and ticket checks behind the Land Warfare Hall were gridlocked before midday. I see too IWM were apologising on Twitter to those still waiting for park and ride busses whilst the Typhoon was displaying!

So I left after about a third of the show as the rain seemed to be getting heavier and didn't look like clearing any time soon.

Shame, but at least I get a ticket for free although I do still have to pay to park as of this year! I feel sorry for those that paid for the show and / or travelled a long distance. I doubt if I will bother to go back tomorrow.

Despite the crummy weather. It didn’t seem to dampen people’s enjoyment of the show.

Wasn’t heavy rain, just a constant drizzle. Didn’t stop massive queues for burgers and coffee n donuts

I’ll leave it till I wake up tomorrow to decide to go again or not.......

With the exception of the Mig15 and the Hawker Fury, everything has flown. Only 4 Hurricane, rather than 6, didn't hear why.

Called it a day during the Reds, still an awful lot of people on the airfield, still to leave. Disappointing to leave before the Spitfires, but having taken nearly an hour to get in from the end of the queue on the M11, I didn't fancy repeating the expirience.

30 miles north and it is dry!

Evening people,

Did anyway use the Babraham park and ride today? Seems short sighted that the show ground opens at 0730 but the first park and ride isnt until 0856.
It’s my first Duxford and from what you guys have said I’m concerned I’ll miss the start of the show because of the traffic.

We enjoyed it despite the rain, lots to see at Duxford anyway. My two boys (4 and 5) loved going in and out of all the airliners.
True about the massive queues for coffee, countered by zero queue for the ice cream vans!

Well words can’t describe that Spitfire finale. Gorgeous.

So in the end nothing was lost to weather, everything flew. Yes, it was cold and although the rain was never heavy it was a soaking crowd by the end of the day. But the show happened. No overcrowding where I was on the crowd line between AAM and LWH. In fact the atmosphere in the crowd was jovial and very good natured.

Getting in was a doddle first thing. I’m the outbound queue but it’s moving.

All in all well worth coming. Very much so.

Shuttleworth have posted on Facebook all their aircraft are heading back to base this evening, none are returning tomorrow due to the weather conditions. That's a huge chunk of the display cancelled.

The reason I left early had nothing to do with the show, which was excellent, but because I'm getting old. The relentless drizzle and the cold got to me even though I was dressed for the conditions.

Timings and aircraft are subject to changes for Sunday.

Was there a surprise flypast today? If so, what was it?

There was. It was that traditional staple of British airshows for decades now, Tiger Moths in the rain.

So the question now is, what do we think will fly tomorrow? If all the Shuttleworth aircraft have gone home and are not expecting to fly tomorrow it makes me wonder what will take on the forecasted winds. If the Sea Hurricane isn't going to fly, will the other Hurricanes, Spitfires, etc attempt it?
