Flying Legends 2020

Post by Lightningkid70 »

Is it too early too start a new thread?
This is really for those who have to start thinking about booking holidays around airshows especially if travelling from abroad.
Can anyone say exactly which weekend this will be in July?
It seemed that every other year it coincided with RIAT whenever Farnborough was on. But as that show is now trade only I guess it will be the same as 2019 where it was on the weekend before RIAT.

Never too early :)

No dates known as of yet. I am waiting on May and Septembers dates myself. Would love to do Legends but it is always too close to RIAT for me.

legends has always been the second weekend of July 13th-14th
May one is the last May bank holiday weekends 23/24th
September one has moved around a bit but would say 19-20th

That's what I thought, but the exception years were with Farnborough being on.
So now that Farnborough is no longer public I guess it will be Legends second weekend then RIAT following weekend with Farnborough trade being in between the two? Maybe, we will have to wait & see.

I have just been doing some digging though about Legends as I have found a luxury aviation tour operator who think they may know which weekend Legends will be so I might get some info later on.

Flying Legends dates have never been changed due to Farnborough. It is always held during the second weekend in July (bar the 2012 Olympics year when airspace restrictions meant it was held on the June/July crossover weekend).

No clash with RIAT! Has common sense finally prevailed or is it just because Farnborough have scrapped their public airshow?

Saw a recent post from BGHH on Facebook saying expect to see some flying from their 109 next year...

Read a comment on the Flying legends Instagram account from someone saying that they hoped they (Flying Legends) would "resolve the Issues with IWM as one can sense the wrangle" - anyone care to enlighten that?

My early bird weekend ticket last year cost £60. Removing the weekend option and now charging for parking it means if you don’t book early bird tickets it’s now over £80

Had just been looking at prices and thought where has the weekend price gone? Now I see your post - last year my weekend was £59.85 Early Bird with free parking, this year £72 as no 2-day tickets and parking charged both days. Quite an increase.

Sign of the times unfortunately.

Add on Flight Car hire and accomodation etc and suddenly I'm looking at £650 for a long weekend away for myself. This includes Yeovilton arrivals and air day plus Sunday at Legends.

I'm just hoping for some unusual attendees to make up for it.

An appearance could be tied in with the release of the 'American Warhorse' documentary if that is still on schedule for this summer? Perhaps Dan Friedkin's Mustangs could come back from where ever they have disappeared to.

(All pure speculation, btw...)

I don't think The Horsemen are currently active as a group.

Looking forward to seeing what John Dibbs has done with this film, pretty sure it's going to be fantastic!
