Might have to get a ticket, it's not a bad looking line up. Just hoping the weathers better than August.

With acts like BOB, seems like an airshow by stealth!

I hope anybody who attends pops into H4 to say hello.

Now sold out apparently. Bit surprised at that, it'd be interesting to know what the capacity is.

Was that actual attendance or theoretical capacity?

According to the IWM web site now, the flying is from 1300-1430 and not in two blocks as before. Rain is forecast for the afternoon now and tickets limited to 2,000.

Well, we got lucky with the weather and had a good hour and a quarter of solid flying, with the rain starting again just as Pete Kynsey turned finals in the last Spitfire to land. There were quite a few changes to the advertised list, it was great to see Peter Kypers’ Belgian-registered Bell 47, although it did remain up the eastern end for all of its display.

Best bit? Spending time on the tank bank just like in the old days, and seeing so many friends there.

Apart from the rain, cold, wind, rain, sunshine, did I mention rain, a very enjoyable showcase day. Flying timed to perfection as the last Spitfire touched down, the rain started, again. Most unusual formation goes to the Rapide and Catalina and the poor Buchon got shot down by a pair of P-51's. Nice formation and tail chase from the 3 Spitfires and two Hurricanes. Plenty aircraft out of the hangars on static and it was Public Health England who limited the tickets to 2,000, not Duxford.

Sounds like you had a good day - but a bit reminiscent of Headcorn a couple of weeks ago! Looking forward to some photos😃

Today was the first time I had watched from the Tank Bank. I can see why some people are upset it is roped off for normal displays. As said above, decent period of flying which dodged the weather pretty well. Shame the Bell 47 didn't really come up the western end, but you can't win them all.

Andy - Wasn't quite as bad as Headcorn! (Though that's going to take some beating)

Very enjoyable few hours spent at Duxford yesterday, i have to admit when we got in just before 11 i honestly thought it was going to be a repeat of the showcase day in August weather wise but in the end it played ball.

I was interested to see that the format consisted mainly of a number of multi-aircraft slots. One of the participants told me that this was to reduce the amount paid to the CAA as they base their airshow fee structure on the number of items, and each formation counts as a single display item.

I’m trying to square that away with Brian’s absolute insistance that he has some kind of ‘inside knowledge’ that the CAA does not regard a showcase as an airshow.

I have no first hand knowledge of how the CAA charges for events like the Showcase Day, if at all, so I can't comment on what Mike and others have written. However, it was clear in advance that IWM Duxford was compressing the flying as rain had been forecast and I suspect that in order to 'Showcase' all aircraft, multi-aircraft combinations was the best way to achieve that. Personally I was very happy with that and I think Duxford did an excellent job of getting all of the aircraft in the air in a limited time period.

As Brian has already written, the rain arrived as the final Spitfire was about to land so in my view, they were spot on. It's a shame though as once the rain cleared, there was some gorgeous light against the dark skies.
