A slight change to tomorrows Showcase Day flying list. TF-51 Mustang 'Contrary Mary' is unfortunately not available and we have aerobatics from a Yak 50 instead of the Bücker Jungmann. Still a wonderful array of aircraft to enjoy. We also are expecting a number of iconic de Havilland aircraft to attend this event so look out for these across our airfield.

Following the Showcase Day today at Duxford, an aircraft based at the airfield suffered an engine failure and has made a forced landing away from the airfield. The aircraft was not part of the display and at the moment there is no update on those on board.

Looks like it was indeed the Sea Fury from Norwegian Spitfire Foundation. Hopefully the pilot didn't sustain too bad an injury.
Re: Duxford Showcase Days 2020
There is also a Showcase Day on Sat 10 Oct showing on the IWM's booking page

Due to the adverse weather conditions we are experiencing today, our Showcase Day flying at IWM Duxford will be from 1300-1400.
Re: Duxford Showcase Days 2020
Had displays from a Mustang, Dragon Rapide and Harvard. Yak 50 and Cosmic Wind taxied up and down, but couldn't fly due to a big shower passing through. Rest of the day's flying is cancelled.
Re: Duxford Showcase Days 2020
Catalina sounded a bit miffed when he heard rest of day had been scrubbed. Words to the effect off ‘oh, Catalina is going home then!’
Typically, they scrubbed rest of the day, rain has now stopped and the cloud base is breaking up!

I've seen photos of the crowd line along the jet pan. Not much social distancing or face masks.
Re: Duxford Showcase Days 2020
Really enjoyed today. Great to see the hangars open again - and the Mustang display was excellent down the M11 end.

Just to add a note to Brian’s list, the Cub is Brendan O’Brien’s truck-top landing routine. I haven’t seen that in years!
Re: Duxford Showcase Days 2020
Got a ticket for this one. What time roughly is the display, as the website just says afternoon. (Or is it played by ear - weather etc)
