Are Sally B supporter club members allowed free access on these IWM flying days ?

I have a feeling that there is no free access for Sally B members on special event days, (but I could be wrong!)

It seems that the BBMF Lancaster is doing more engine runs today.

Noticeably a lot smaller attendance than for last week’s event.

The flying display will be just 40 minutes long, with the CAP 10, Harvard and Yak-50 only.

BBMF Lancaster was engine-running earlier.

Noticed on the edit history on IWM Facebook page re their post of 06-08-2021 that as of eight hours ago (8 hours before 18.07 on 11-08-2021) that the reference to a two hour flying display was taken out.

Certainly hope the next Duxford Flying Day will make up for the few displays that took place today.

The flying display was short but sweet, with the CAP 10 particularly fun to watch with a flamboyant display. It wasn't what you'd call a packed schedule but then neither was I expecting it to be.

The primary reason for visiting yesterday was to allow the family to explore Duxford's exhibits and get involved in some of the activities without the frenetic pace and crowds we saw previously during a Battle of Britain airshow day. The kids had good fun and watching a few planes in the air whilst scoffing ice cream was a lovely bonus.

Free entry on IWM membership, easy drive in and out and a good bit interest in aviation history piqued in my kids. It seems there were lots of other families enjoying the day too.

Have you seen confirmation of this, or are you assuming that, as BBMF have been added to the list, this includes the Lancaster?

Doesn't mean it's going to show. Lancaster was down for the BoB show and didn't appear.

I'm going to assume that it won't show up and therefore I won't be disappointed if that's proven correct, whereas it will be a pleasant surprise when (if) it rolls over the horizon. It would be nice to see it in the air just once this year. Either way, it will be the last aviation event of the season for me.

It is the LLA members day this coming Saturday 25th September, which traditionally marks the end of the display season for the BBMF. In previous years I think there may have been occasional solo fighter sortie after that weekend, but not common. Having said that, this year is like no other.

I have seen no indication that the Lancaster has flown since it returned to Coningsby on 3 engines, I don't know if anyone else has?

i don't think it has. my understanding is every time they try to get it ready for an air test they find another problem. i guess that's the sort of thing that happens when its been sitting for the best part of a year

Gents, does anyone know what the time flying display would start on the 9th?

Also, a recommended time to arrive if we would just be coming for the flying display? To get a nice balance between queuing in traffic and waiting around at airfield.

I've done the museum twice this year already and as great as it is I don't need to do it again :)

There isn't generally much traffic queuing to speak of at the Flying Days. Flying generally starts around 2pm

there won't be queuing, its classed as a musuem day so the access is limited to those who have booked and what can be fitted in the normal car park.

normally they start somewhere between about 1 and 2pm and last a couple of hours with a bit of a break in the middle

If anyone had any doubts whether IWM membership was worth it...

I am over the moon with this! Fingers crossed the weather is decent, and nothing goes tech!
