Bray Airshow 2022

Post by Wissam24 »

I'm looking to go to Bray this year for the centenary. Is there a special spot where all the photographers go for this show typically or do most stick with the seafront?

I've only gone once. There is a mountain in the south of Bray a lot of people go to for photos. It's overlooking the entire flightline.

This is the view from it (not my photo)

Seafront is good, especially if you can get right to the middle. Though they are offering hospitality this year so that may take up the crowd centre. These are some of my photos from the beach in 2016. Quality isn't great because I was using an old Bridge camera back then.

I'll be there this year again as its the IAC100 but I will be staying on the beach. I don't fancy the climb lol

Went there a good few times, Since Shoreham Stuff is Miles out especially when the Viggen etc was there. Choppers grand and close. I seen some nice shots of it from the Hill but you wont get the smaller stuff that way. Bring a Hubble type Lens with you or better shoot from Holyhead.

FFS this : Though they are offering hospitality this year so that may take up the crowd centre

Bring your trunks too.
Cheers

George

Viggen may as well just have displayed over Wales it was that far out.

Draken was a lot closer. Reds at Frecce seemed to be at an alright distance too.

As others have said at times the Swedes appear to pick their display axis somewhere midway between Bray and Holyhead, but overall its a good day out. I've always scooted up to the top of Bray Head.

The Patrouille Tranchant display was fantastic. I'd love to see them again somewhere.

It is a pity they have cut down to 1 day though. Sunday only this year.

I went there back in 2018,loved it.don’t worry about the climb to bray head.there’s a path just outside of town that’s nice and easy,I’m no climber to be honest.will probably have to ask the locals where it is as my memory isn’t too great

One thing to watch out for, IF you are coming from, or through Dublin. It is going to be VERY busy.

The mens All-Ireland GAA final is also on, on the 24th July in Dublin and is probably the biggest sporting fixture of the year for Ireland. It can hold 82,300 and it is sure to be 100% sold out.

Thankfully Croke Park is not on the same train line as Dublin-Bray. I'm coming down on the Enterprise train from Belfast and I expect that to be a nightmare.

That would have been great to see.

Looks like Reds won't be at Bray, they have been grounded due to ejector seat issues and limited to essential flying only along with Typhoons.

Ah well as to be expected. Most stuff miles out you could barely hear the P-51, The Stars did not show up. Viggen, Lanc an Reds for WX reasons.

Some Crowd there, People Stuck on trains for 4 hours, shambles.

Day out with me Dad though and that made up for it with listening to Amazing WWII Stories on the 3 hours trip back home.
Cheers
